Not much fun for Master Mariner B at the Stag this week a lot Of bums on seats me thinks.😒😒 John, with respect - you were not there and did not see what happened in the games, so you really should not "judge" a situation without having first hand knowledge. Appearances can be very deceptive, with the exception of the first game the visitors had plenty of visits to the table with the home players making small breaks and then touching up.... as an example of that, my personal score was actually made over the course of SIX different breaks with the highest one just over 2k. Although my opponent probably had (at least) 20 visits to the table, unfortunately she found more pegs on the table than holes which resulted in her score being zero at the end of the game and plenty of banter from her team mates. Whether our opponents did or did not have "much fun" would be for them to comment on. I feel that we have always had good evenings with the Master Mariner B team, yes the scores were very one-sided but I have nothing but admiration for them for coming out every week to play their matches - without people like that, our league would certainly be much worse.

Even the first game they broke off I went with 10k and touch in 8 minutes then we had about 6goes each before 7k in 6 minutes Paul is one player who will cheer on a high break and he respects me for doing it I will not change who I am as a player and if that means I score 17k against a lesser team so be it

A view from the Mariner B team. We go out to enjoy ourselves. We have a laugh and play the game. We try to play well but as a rule, we are rubbish. to prove this, we have only won one match in 6 years or so. That is the point of the team. Winning and losing is a by-product of a Wednesday evening out. We applaud the teams we play and if they put a 20k break on then that's OK. More time to have a beer.

An admirable sentiment, Regg3y. I play in a league where for the past 20-odd years both the Championship and Runners-up have gone - without exception - to one or other of three teams with the same nucleus of players. Two of those three squads have since merged; the remainder of the league (with 12 teams, currently the largest in the country playing 3-Pin) seem perfectly cool with this. John has comparatively recently become a member of one of those two uber-strong teams, so perhaps his post was simply motivated by a pang of sympathy for the perpetual under-dog.

I was bemused by the comment posted. Like Reg, I go out to have a giggle, beer and meet up with mates, and fine ones they are.
I personally enjoyed my time at The Stag. Like everyone in the community, really good people, and win loose or whatever it's always about the night out.

To all the players at the Mariner B. I would like to personally apologise to all your team for my post I made about Your match against the Stag. I should not have said comments about the game without knowing true facts or reflections of the night. My words were never meant to upset anyone. Indeed from posts from your team I fully appreciate what great Nights you have with your mates enjoying all aspects of the evenings especially a few beers as I do. The more teams we can keep playing the better. Have a great season. John.

Hi John I am sure Dover and his team have taken no offence over your comments and as he says they are a great bunch of people who go for the night out and our leagues need teams like this to survive. I know you would never try to cause offence and think this needs to be put to bed before it gets blown out of proportion. Please continue with your input to the forum as it is always a pleasure reading your write ups and witty asides.
