Certainly a surprising scoreline but the home team quick to take advantage of the chances they received.... Game 1 Martin gave Ash an early chance but although Ash got the break back straight away, he missed his first split and came off. Martin made enough next visit and then added some more later. 1-0 Game 2 Probably the most bizarre start to any game that I have seen..... Chris caught his opening break shot slightly too thin and the red ball somehow managed to whip round the edge of the 50 hole and then go on to knock over the left hand peg and give Jim the break back. Jim happy to accept the gift and touched on 11.5k, Chris finished off with a quick break of just under 6k. 2-0 Game 3 Barry looked very comfortable and didn't look like missing, to the extent that I actually sat down and put my jumper back on! He then left the red ball slightly short and missed the 30 hole with a 50/30 push through and came off shortly afterwards. I got the break back and managed to touch on just over 10k despite having a couple of excursions up the table when nearly safe. 3-0 Game 4 Geoff off on just under 4k but Alan had no luck, Geoff got the break back a couple more times while Alan's bad luck continued. 4-0 Game 5 Martin whipped the back of the 100 hole with his first split and came off at the back shortly afterwards, Mark got the balls back straight away and played the table out for a superb 17,360 break. 5-0 High Breaks - Jim 11,550, Dave 10,250 and Mark 17,360. Very enjoyable evening in great company, the decibel levels were rising as the evening went on with plenty of friendly banter.

Tarring Club 2-3 Stags Head B
Matt Jones 1360 - 3420 Jean Brackenridge** - Jean opened up with 1k+, cannot stress how important those early breaks were as it was bordering on impossible to get the balls back, Matt couldn't and Jean with some good matchplay kept adding (and keeping) a few each visit
**Mike Formoy 5500 - 2500 Nigel Senior - Mike opened with an excellent 4k, which was the highest break of the night, some particularly impressive recovery shots included, Nigel did get them back eventually but was up against it on the clock and missed the one-up ensuring Mike had a deserved win
**Dave Collins 3640 - 0 Matthew Knight - Dave opened with 2k plus, following Jean's advice I managed to get them back pretty early, was going pretty well but pegged a split and Dave made sure
Bepo 1020 - 3380 Bob Osborne** - Super reserve and the senior member of the Hastings mafia played a very sensible leg, going off with 1k+ and following Jean's lead ensured he banked a few each visit to take it to a decider
**Tony Collins 2100 - 5290 Phil Osborne - we had a quick look at the stats before the last leg and Tony had lost every match before tonight, we knew he was better than that and he made a really good start, he was on the table for the first five minutes but on missing, the super junior member of our mileage busting Hastings pairing made a very good 3k break. That proved to be enough as despite Tony's best efforts he could not catch up
Vital win for the visitors and a great one to come from behind on a really tricky top. The opening breaks proved decisive in all the legs bar the decider, as it was so difficult to get the balls back. Thank you to Mike (who was very impressive tonight) and Tony for staying around whilst the Sussex draws were done
With results elsewhere going in our favour everything to play for next week against the As

The Vine 3 Henty 2 Tony B lost to Lorin Barney beat Stu C Gary beat Chocie Ros lost to Molly Barney beat KT - on the last ball 😕 Tony 1,450 vs Lorin ** 3,990 Paul ** 4,570 vs Stu C 0 Gary ** 4,840 vs Chocie 990 Ros 470 vs Molly ** 2,590 Paul (4pr) 2,430 vs KT ** 2,320 A tough night on a very tricky Vine table with lost breaks key and luck needed. As Kev notes, all came down to the last game, last ball and Barney sinking it first time. Good company, thanks to all.
