Joe Oakley * | 8100 | 620 | Chris Richards | Pete Hickman | 3460 | 3660 | Colin Green * | Tony Jenner | 7140 | 2960 | Vern Blake * | Rick Cunningham * | 8330 | 1850 | Brain Richards | Steve Aylmore | 180 | 7280 | Terry Denyer * |
Joe touched on 3.5k and then always in control 1-0 Colin first one up behind and pegged, Pete balls back 1.2k, Colin balls back 1k then Pete built a lead of 1k, Colin balls back 1 minute left and played the time out to nick it. 1-1 Vern missed the break and I took full advantage with 1.3k!!! I got them back and added another 1.5k, Vern then 4 times the break and I settled down to make sure 2-1 Rick off early, Brian 1.7k but then Rick took control to make sure of a win for the As 3-1 Terry also off early, Steve unable to get the balls back, Terry a good 5k break to make sure 3-2 A good night with the B team as usual, think most of us made the table look harder than it was as Rick and I had a knock afterwards and shared just under 17k between us. As usual thanks to Steve and Kat for looking after us and a lovely spread of sausage and chips

Somehow managed to miss both balls on the first split shot. Jim got them straight back and easily got to about 8k when leaving the split bang in front of the 100. He put so much side on trying to hit it that it flattened the black peg. I played it out to the bar with an 11,280 break to make it 2-2, never in doubt Phil Osborne 6190 - 13,050 Mark James** - the captain of the opposition had to put up with some fairly light-hearted banter concerning his choice of break players during the season, how do you put up with it Mark? Quite rightly he treated it with the contempt it deserved and looked set for another 20k break in the evening when leaving a one-up short on 13,050. Super Phil played the rest of the time out for his Thursday night mileage of 6190 Think it is fair to say we were not favourites when the season began but excellent team spirit and support especially from Mr Osborne snr helped us to the title. We also "won" the very important moments especially at the Vine (without Nigel), Martin's kick in our first match and Jean's very important first leg win at the Tarring, and Bob's fourth leg win when stepping in for Tupps. Talking of Tupps he was incomparable at home especially in the opening leg with the break, this often led to Phil winning against the break next (very importantly v Henty) which gave Nigel the chance to win matches for us with the break Thank you to our opponents for making it such a great night with superb company and food from Heather to match

Congratulations to Martin Smith on joining the Sussex 20k Club, it was a pleasure to watch him reach that milestone.... congratulations also to the Stags Head B on winning the League this season, always a great night with that team who play the game in the right way whether they win or lose.

Great report Matt but you forgot yourself.
Great stand in Captain 100% record even though you do confuse us with the order of play (well me anyway 😂)
Transport manager making sure we get from A to B (detours and mile walks accepted as par for the course 😂) really appreciated by all of us .
Showing us all how to play the Vine table and winning that important second leg (along with others) to go clear at the top.
And your great reports on here. Always look forward to reading them.
Thankyou (and rest of team) for lots of laughs, (domestics in the car always fun), and a great enjoyable, fun season.
