Game 1 Geoff opened with a very steady 9k to make sure, Tony got the balls back and made his score, Geoff finished off. 1-0 Game 2 Paul off just under 2k, Jim got the break back and touched on his score, Paul made a nice 5k break to finish off. 2-0 Game 3 Ros started well but came off on 1.7k, Martin got the break straight back but put his one up behind, Ros cleared the balls well and made an excellent break of exactly 7,000 to finish the game and taking the Ladies High Break in the League for this season. 2-1 Game 4 I lost my opening break trying to recover the balls at the back after a poor split shot and gave Neil the break back in the process, Neil looked well set but then caught a split thick and both balls stayed up. I finished the game off. 3-1 Game 5 Mark never looked like missing with an imperious table play out which just beat Martin's high break that had been set the week before. 4-1 High breaks - Mark 21,500 (new league high break this season), Jim 10,090, Dave 12,610 and Geoff 9,010. Ladies High break - Ros 7,000 (highest ladies league break this season) Table still playing superbly, lovely platters of sarnies, sausage rolls and (Ros's favorite) pork pies.

A good evening at the Alexandra with plenty of friendly banter and the away team coming away with a 3-2 win. Joe playing his swan song league game tonight as he is with our blessing and good wishes for his future bar billiards career. Joe has been a great team member and it has been a pleasure to watch his game improve in leaps and bounds. Joe has also matured as a player and I hope to some degree that has been due to us as his team mates. He will be missed but I am sure he will go on and win an Open in the near future. A lovely gesture from him and Crystal to present the captain with a home made basket of G and T and a great touch with a side of pork scratchings. Joe will still have to put up with us for at least one more game as we still have the Chairmans to be arranged and played. To the match I put Joe on knowing his high break had been surpassed last week by Martin Smith. Joe set about the task and looked as though he was easily going to set a new high break getting to 20k in 16.5 minutes, but he caught the one up wrong and it rimmed the back of the pocket and bounced out with Joe on 20850. Thank you to his opponent Tony for supporting Joe during his effort as usual a sporting gesture from Tarring`s captain. Would have been a great way for Joe to go out but still a great break. Keith 3 steady breaks to take it to 1-1 with Mal unable to get the balls back. Matt opened with 4k and Steve did get them back but off at 1k, Matt made sure. Rick touched on 3k and with Bepo not getting the break back Rick maintained his lead to set up the decider. Tony and I exchanged early blows and fair to say did not get going, with me about 200 up Tony bought one back by the 200 I tried to cut it in at a tight angle but a heavy touch took the black out. We then stayed at the top of the table for a while and Tony built a 750 lead before I got the balls back, going well at 7k + and the bar due I caught the split wrong, rimmed and took out the right hand white peg handing Tony and Tarring the victory (the Jeneral not playing sensibly tonight) Thank you to my team for a fun season in difficult times and all being well we will be back doing it all again next season.
