Match played a day early as several players from both teams wanted to watch the Brighton v Spurs game tomorrow night. A good win for the home side who were quick to take their chances. Plenty of laughs and friendly banter, especially during game 3 for some strange reason! Ash played the shot of the night, scoring 400 on a split shot that found its way into the 100 and 200 holes. Thanks as always to Heather & Jim for the warm welcome, superb table and a lovely spread of sarnies.

Result follows Master Mariner B 0 v Blue Anchor 5
Paul Bramhall 0 v Matthew Knight 5810 Reg Perrin 3480 v Joe Oakley 3590 Lorraine Pendry 140 v James White 1590 Greg Walsh 490 v Tony Jenner 4070 Peter Gwilliam 1270 v Chris Cox 2620
Another thrashing on the scores, but a couple of games could go either way. Also a pleasure to see Greg put a bat in his hand , which was unexpected. So thank you all for cajoling him to play.

Duke of Wellie 3 - 2 New Oak A
Chris Tupper 4,060* - 1,460 Bob Osborne Kevin Tunstall 5,260 - 5,680* Nigel Senior Mick Winder 3,990 - 4,970* Ian Lelliott Colin Smith 6,660* - 1,250 Phil Osborne Mick Winder (4P) 3,0300 - 870* Bob Osborne (4P)
Both teams use 4 players but the Wellie win at home thanks to Mick taking the decider
In leg 1, Tupps a bit shocked to go on first, looked like the lack of beer inside him affected him but Bob could not get the balls back to make any impact on tupps lead 1-0
Leg 2, thought I would give it a go against Kev, put my first one up behind, but at least it was not short as I had had my weetabix. Got the balls back first and made a 5k break then left the one up short. Kev made a couple but came off on a straight 50. He then had one last go, I would have relaxed a bit more if I knew they were timing to 18 minutes but I am glad they did as Kev ended about 400 short
Leg 3 Ian off on 2k, Mick edged into the lead by about 1,000 with a couple of breaks. Ian then got the balls back and a 2k break got him home. New Oak 2-1 up
Leg 4 Colin made a decent 4k opener, then added 2k. Phil got the balls back but it would have been a miracle break to win it in 6 minutes. He couldnt do it and the score were level.
Leg 5 Mick v Bob. Bob out as the 4 player again (think its 4 out of 5 for us). Bob opened with 500, Mick caught him slowly. Then he burst into the lead with a 2k break. Kept his nerve when he left one in front of the 100 hole to keep them.
Well done to the Wellie - they will be tough to beat on there. Best wishes to Dave Reeves and Marc Chipman that they get well soon..

MSC 1 - 4 Master Mariner A
Colin 3720 - 2760 DJ Ringo 1380 -3560 Gaz Vic 520 - 8400 Mop Phil 2450 - 2470 Steve Martin 870 -1870 Bob
Mariner out for revenge this time after we beat them on their table. Colin always in charge but it wasn't until he got the break back at the end that it was decided This was a match that was going one way and then the other until Gaz worked out what he was doing. Mop on first and never looked back. Think he was trying to tuck up at around the 3k mark but couldn't work out how to do it. My fault. Steve shouldn't have got a look in but leaving the 1 up right on the edge of the pocket didn't help. Last ball game. Bob was having a bit of trouble but Martin couldn't get the balls back and it was just one ball at a time for a lot of the match Great evening so thanks to the Mariner A for making it so.

New Oak B 4 Caxton 1 Jean 7580 Kim 4030Believe this is Kim's highest score ever and by quite some way (2,990 looks to be previous best in Brighton league games) Was there last night and she played well although in a losing cause. Thankfully she leaves the team weakened tonight (as not playing) as the Caxton play the New Oak A in the last match of the season.
