"Almost live" update from the Theatre of Screams, also known as the Stags Head in Portslade!
Stags Head C 3 New Oak B 2
Rob Hall 180 v Jean Brackenridge 14,710* Jean missed her first one up but was first to get them back and made a very good 9,130 break to take the win before adding another 5k at the end. 0-1
Grant Tully 0 v Stuart Carruthers 19,550* Stuart looked a bit shaky for the first couple of thousand before settling down and making an excellent 9.9k opening break. Grant unlucky with a double kiss over the 30 hole, Stuart got the balls straight back and made a quick 9k to finish off. 0-2
Dave Ingram 9,640 v Michelle Baden 740* Michelle off early, I had some luck to get the break back and touched on just over 9k. Michelle conceded shortly afterwards as her asthma was bad. 1-2
Jim Millward 12,180 v Ash Harrison 2,100* Ash off early missing a straight 50, Jim got the break back and touched on 9k, both had small breaks after that. 2-2
With news coming from the Wellie that the home team had won, the league title depended on the last leg here.....
Stuart Mepham 10,630 v Alan Brackenridge 5,090* Alan opened with 3.6k, Stuart break back but pushed his 1 up behind on 4.1k. Alan got the balls but then put his one up behind as well leaving him just over 1k up.... Stuart break back, up to 2k and caught a split thick leaving both balls up! Alan whipped both balls, Stuart got them back and touched on 2k to take the win and the Premier Division title. 3-2
Congratulations to the New Oak B on winning the Division 1 title this season.

New Oak A 3 - 2 Caxton Arms
Phil Osborne 3,110 - 5,470* Brian Muggeridge Ian Lelliott 6,270 - 4,280* George Fisher Nigel Senior 13,870 - 670* Liam Hurley Bob Osborne 5,230 - 6,700* Steve Hurley Marc Chipman 8,500* - 1,420 (4P) Brian Muggeridge
New Oak win 3-2 against Caxton - we have just been unstoppable lately!
In leg 1, Phil put on first again by the captain, Brian didnt put it down 4 times this time....and made a decent 4k opener. Phil got the balls back but off pretty early in the chase and Brian held on to win to put the Caxton 1-0 up
Leg 2, George started off well but off on 2k, Ian with plenty of "shot Ians" somehow made 5k which put the game out of George's reach. Scores level at 1-1
Leg 3 Nige on now to play Liam. Liam left the one up short, and Nige in no mood to let him off the hook with a 10k reply. 2-1 to the Oak
Leg 4 Bob on for us, Steve got 5k in front, Bob chased looked ok but came off on 3,500 so Steve got the win.... 2-2 and guess who for the decider
Leg 5 Chippers, sporting a new haircut, with the break amasseed 500 before calling himself a male chicken, Brian couldnt get the balls back, Marc could and made a good 6k break before hitting the split fat (again) and calling himself a male chicken again. Very strange that before he missed that final split he took his glasses off...but great to see Chippers hit form just as the season finishes....
Good night with the Caxton, who ran us close. Thanks to my teammates for a good fun season even if we couldnt keep in touch with the boys at the top. Well done from us to the Stag on their league win.

Well done to the Stag team, great season taken down to the wire, some sweaty bums on seats perhaps ( ladies excused of course) well done to the Oak for giving it a great go, we failed on aggregate but only two defeats so good season from the old gits. I have to say the div 1 teams having 5 breaks has been the hardest to compete with, we had games at the Bev,Caxton, Moulescombe club and Oak that could have gone either way and Im sure the other prem sides had the same issues. So all good for next year, hopefully everyone stays healthy, keep taking the tablets and see all teams having another go. Congrats to Oak B for winning Div 1, does this mean Prem next year ? with the Oak A relegated HaHa.

Duke of Wellington 4-1 Blue Anchor **Colin 8410 - 360 Tony - 3 breaks of 2k, 3k and 3k for Smithy, TJ no luck in getting the balls back Chris 1930 - 3380 Joe** - neither player at their best, Tupps in front when pegging off the right hand 50. Joe made 2k for the win Kevin 9880 - 990 Matt** - 2 pegs for me, one unfortunate off the back cushion out the 100, one from a woeful split. Kev excellent break for a thrashing **Dave 8370 - 0 Rick - early scare for Dave as he whipped an early split which wobbled the peg, no alarms after that with excellent break Mick 2190 - 1660 James** - close all the way this one with Mick edging ahead close to the end and staying there Well done to the Wellie on their win, excellent night with plenty of banter in the battle of the second and third teams Congratulations to the Stag on winning the title, a very close and competitive division which went right down to the last leg, great effort from my team, we were well in the hunt until the last couple of matches. Thank you to everyone who played for the mighty Blue Anchor this season, hardly a fume in sight Extra thanks, as always, to Tony for all the miles he does in making sure we have a team every week Thank you to the Blue Anchor staff for making us feel welcome and providing us with some excellent food throughout the season and to Stuart and Alan for providing us with one of the best tables in the league Congratulations to the New Oak B on winning division 1 We managed to get most matches played which was a feat in itself due to Covid. Would like to give a special mention to all those teams who went the extra mile to get matches rearranged in difficult circumstances

Good report Matt and must say a good season for us staying in the hunt to the last couple of weeks. An enjoyable season in good company with friendly banter, was going to give it best for next season but have decided I have enjoyed this season so much I am going to make my team mates suffer the Jeneral for at least another season and pleased to say it appears they are willing to do so in the hope the right Tony turns up most weeks.
