Can I ask if any plans have been made yet about Lewes Finals Night for this season? I see that a date has been set for 30th May which is only just over 3 weeks away, however no further information has been made available so far as to the venue or format for the evening? After a gap of 3 years, it would be nice if this event can take place again this year as it gives an opportunity for all of the teams and players to get together, watch some good individual games as well as the Team Cup Final and then have the trophy presentations at the end of the evening. I look forward to hearing more about it soon.

Oh, that is a pity that it will not all be played on the same night, for me it has always been the best evening of the season and a great opportunity to get everyone together.... especially after a gap of 3 years. The venues (and times) for some of the finals seem strange as well....

Hi Dave. Yes it is a pity that some Leagues can't have the traditional Finals Nights. As you know Tarratts have sold most of their tables including the competition set, there is an option to use the AEBBA tables stored in Sussex but that requires someone or people to collect them & return them in good order as in loading the van back up correctly.
I don't want to comment for Lewes League but Horsham & Mid Sussex committees don't have anybody that would be willing to or in some cases capable to do this. So the Committees decided to hold the Finals of their competitions on the League Tables & have a presentation night instead. Also with the reduction in team numbers the amount of people that would attend a Finals night has been dropping over recent years, this is not ideal for the reasons you have mentioned and as you say giving an atmosphere for the Finals. Additionally there is the loss of revenue to the Leagues in door money & Raffle money.

As Ian says unfortunately the problem of getting tables to a venue has become too difficult this year . Lewes will be having a presentation evening at the Plough on Monday 1st August in conjunction with the AGM Hopefully see lots of you there.
