Littlehampton | 4 | v | 3 | Redhill B | C Green* | 7260 | - | 2370 | A Hornby | K Tizzard | 2080 | - | 3040 | *M Fraser | D Hampton | 7100 | - | 1510 | *M Pellett | B Harrison* | 4430 | - | 2550 | J Elleson | R Davey | 810 | - | 5690 | *M Wilson | J Dynes | 1700 | - | 1100 | *M Greenway | S Beech* | 2210 | - | 3450 | T Pearse |
Before I start my report it should probably be said that myself and Tom were rather sidetracked by the US Grand Prix and given I loudly exclaimed "Oh f*** off" when Russell slammed into Sainz I think that was fairly obvious to the whole pub. My expectations for the night were also low, as Tom had proclaimed on the trip down that this table was "the worst he'd ever played on". It certainly wasn't easy - but it was ok. Anyway Colin showed us how to play by racking up 7k in two breaks without much fuss. 1-0. Fritz then decided - as captain fantastic - to "get his frame out of the way" and scrapped his way to victory. 1-1. Following this the flat-capped wizard took centre stage, also racking up 7k. 2-1. Next up all hell broke loose in the Grand Prix which was great! Oh and Joe lost... Booooo. 3-1. Fifth on was yours truly, I felt quite happy on the table but the slightly weird nature of the table meant I never got comfortable on the split. Despite this a comfortable win kept Redhill in the game. 3-2. After this the Grand Prix really hotted up as the race for the lead in the closing laps became very intense. Meanwhile, Littlehampton sealed victory. 4-2. Finally Steve and Tom battled out in the deci... dead rubber. Tom struggled early on as sadly his "cue gripped his hand". Thankfully for him though Steve lost a 4k break with a minute to go - taking him from an unassailable position to 200 behind. So after all the drama, Tom won on his least favourite table! 4-3. So overall a good night and we took away one big lesson... you won't win if your cue grips your hand. Top tip that, don't forget it.

Worthing B 4 - 3 Mid Sussex
James Whittle * 6070 - 0 Barry West. James opened with around 2.5k, Barry break back and going well having just taken the lead but missed a ball behind the 20. James did not need a 2nd invitation.
Alan Mepham 1200 - 4230 Andy Farmer Wright *. Andy off early but first to get them back and built 2k lead, Alan got them back with time enough but missed first split, Andy finished off.
Brian Richards 2480 - 2840 Graham Sparksman *. Graham off early then a battle at top end, Sparky balls back and off 2k up, then break back again only to 4 times it. Brian gave chase but ran out of time.
Rick Cunningham * 4590 - 2920 Paul Jobbins. Rick miscued his first split and missed the ball. Paul 2 breaks to lead by 2k but Rick balls back and made sure, touching with bar due.
Dave Jones 2650 - 6130 Mick Kirwan *. Mick off early, Dave balls back 2k break and then Mick got hold of the table and took charge to give Mid Sussex a 3 - 2 lead.
Tony Jenner 9230 - 2300 Ian Giffin *. Ian off early and I was first to get them back and touched on 7500 not leaving Ian enough time.
Pete Hickman * 6040 - 3600 Derek Taylor. Pete off early, Derek 3.4k break. Bit of play at top end before Pete got them back and touched after the bar had gone on 566o break to give the home team a hard fought victory.
Thanks as usual to Mid Sussex for a good night, great to catch up. Table was all there but very whippy at the back,

Redhill A 5-2 Brighton A
**Denise Wills 7050 - 6220 Bob Hall John Slee 5210 - 4240 Phil Osborne** Colin Robbins 6600 - 2990 Matthew Knight** **Geoff Jukes 10,910 - 3500 Nigel Senior Dave Constable 510 - 9660 Dave Ingram** Gary Powell 4630 - 8900 Chris Tupper** **Dave Jones 8250 - 1020 Kevin Stoner
Before reporting on the match I hope Jim Millward gets well soon, we really missed him tonight and thanks to Kev Stoner for (again) stepping in to play this fixture.
Always difficult to go to Redhill with a full-strength side, even more so with an under strength one but they were extremely worthy winners taking full advantage of the opportunities we gave them. 4-0 down it really was looking bad but fortunately Dave battled extremely hard in making 7.5k despite not looking at his fluent best and then the bang in form Tupps an excellent opening break of nearly 9k to make things look a little more respectable. We had ample opportunities to win the first 3 legs but were just unable to do so
Well done to Redhill on their all round performance and win, no excuses on the table front as it was extremely good

Colin southouse 5530 - 0 Trevor fitzwilliam Ric Bithall 5070 - 2200 Alan Hitchman Huw Lincoln 800 - 5650 Barry Holt Dave Knight 3330 - 3410 Chris cox Trevor Rees 1610 - 2980 Dan wheal Richard Todd 1270 - 2270 Paul Thorpe Peter Payne 5900 - 390 Gareth cornford
Game 4 vital for the come back as Dave missed the 100 on the last ball giving me the opportunity to snatch the leg.
The less said about Barry’s final 50 / 100 split with the last 2 balls, which ended up as a 100 / 200 shot the better 😬
