Well done to West Sussex on a good win. Dan off at about 2k but Tom unable to get the balls back and Daniel made sure next time. James and Gareth on and off and game in the balance throughout, Gareth got the break back near the end and had just taken the lead but unfortunate to take a peg and the bar dropped giving James the win. Paul off early, Martin making sure firat visit despite plenty of banter from his own side and the opposing captain. Gary lost an opening near 5k break and Neil made just over 1k and then game remained scrappy with Neil levelling the match. Rick off early, Chris made sure first visit with 8350 break. Alan off early and then game was tight throughout with Kevin getting a vital break and touching as the bar dropped to take the win for West Sussex. Barry a faultless 10010 break to make sure and with TJ unable to get the break back Barry added some more. Plenty of banter on the night from both sides, a lovely spread supplied by the hosts to finish the evening. Thank you to Tom and Neil for stepping in a short notice and to West Sussex for a most enjoyable evening.

Brighton A 3-4 Brighton B
**Bob Hall 13,160 - 1630 Marcus Chipman - nice near 10k start from Bob, "rusty" Chippers did get them back but off early and Bob added some more
Jim Millward 6890 - 11,180 Stuart Carruthers** - Sussex Chairman arriving a little late and straight on to play Jim, he was going well but managed to miss the break and was off, Jim unfortunate to peg them and give Stuart the balls back, no mistake second time with a very good 8k break
Nigel Senior 140 - 7980 Alan Brackenridge** - Alan was going well on over 5k when he pegged following a thick split. Nigel unable to get them back despite a couple more chances to do so. Alan made sure with another 5k towards the end which he kept
**Phil Osborne 1700 - 7070 Michelle Baden - Phil not at his brilliant best at the moment, was going well but missed a ball near the 50 and Michelle took advantage with a good 4.5k opener. A couple of chances for Phil but he found the going tough and Michelle added some more late on
Matthew Knight 8620 - 7520 Jean Brackenridge** - Jean was off on 2k, she was first to get them back, and it looked like it might be the same as a couple of the earlier legs, as Jean built a good lead with a 5k break but left her one up short when in sight of victory. I had just enough time to get them back and play it out to secure the win
Dave Ingram 530 - 12,070 Bella Stoner** - some uncertainty about who would play this one but captain Chippers certainly made the right choice as Bella made an excellent 9670 break to give Dave no chance, her only scary moment came very early on when a 100 split whipped out but a good recovery shot and very good play from then on saw the Bees to victory
**Chris Tupper 11,190 - 600 Jack Baden - Tupps knows that every leg is vital and, despite losing the match, he was in no mood for mercy. An excellent opener paving the way to victory
Well done to Brighton B on their win, we had some chances but could not not get the balls back when it mattered and then legs 4 and 6 pivotal in the match both going the way of the visitors with some good play. Excellent night on the banter front

Bar Billiards... and it (was) liiiiiiiiiiiive Redhill | 4 | v | 3 | Lewes | M Pellett* | 6460 | - | 1250 | H Lincoln | A Hornby | 5340 | - | 3870 | *J Bithell | M Wilson | 170 | - | 7410 | *D Knight | J Elleson* | 6680 | - | 5100 | P Payne | M Greenway | 8790 | - | 2740 | *R Bithell | T Pearce | 2970 | - | 5290 | *C Newman | M Fraser* | 6260 | - | 6830 | C Southouse |
A scrappy affair to start but Martin eventually found the 1up and eased away to win with a 5k and tap. 1-0 Sadly for Jan the writing was on the wall after pegging her break early on. Alex never really found his fluency but a couple of good grindy breaks gave him a 5k lead. Jan got going at the end with a lovely 3.8k but warp speed would have been required to win. 2-0 No comment. 2-1 A topsy turvy game with Joe taking the lead only to be caught and passed. Joe did well to get the break back and 2.5k and tap at the bar was enough for him. 3-1 A series of tidy contributions saw Martin ease to victory and seal an opening win for Redhill. 4-1 A game where Tom never really got going and his opponent had several nice contributions to win at a relative canter. 4-2 To finish off Mark started with a rapid 2.8k bit unexpected broke down. Colin replied with a gritty 4.6k but Mark immediately got the balls back and set off at warp speed again adding 3k but broke down from nowhere once more. A superb clear from Colin gave him 2 mins to chase down Marks 1.5k lead which he duly did pulling a frame back for the visitors. 4-3
