Well done to Sussex A on retaining the Division One County Championship title and to Sussex B (who I had the pleasure of captaining) on their runners-up spot.
Sussex A :- Kevin Tunstall, Nigel Senior, Phil Osborne, Matt Knight, Joe Oakly, Martin Cole and Dave Ingram.
Sussex B :- Stuart Mepham, Martin Smith, Chris Cox, Bob Hall, Stuart Carruthers, Kev Hall and Mike Daw.
It went down to the last series of games and with Sussex B leading but having their bye series Sussex A needed to beat Kent to overhaul them and they duly did so.

Congratulations to Sussex A on winning the 50th County Championships.
Their 12th win, one more to equal Oxon's record.

Good day at Totteridge Club yesterday for the Division 1 County Championships. Series 1 - Sussex A made a good start in defence of thier title beating Oxon A 10-4, Sussex B beat newly promoted Kent 8-6. Series 2 - Bucks played well after sitting out the first series recording a 9-5 win over Sussex B, Kent beat Oxon A 8-6 Series 3 - Sussex B (not for the first time) shocked the A side with an 8-6 win. Chris Cox getting the better of KT with a 2-0 win, and all the 6 other matches being 1-1. Kent defeated Bucks 8-6 Series 4 - Sussex B finished with a 9-5 win over Oxon A, Sussex A matched their counterparts scorline over Bucks So into the last series Sussex B finished on 30 points, Sussex A on 26, Kent 22, Bucks 20, Oxon 15. So Sussex B could not win at this stage as Sussex A were playing Kent, Sussex requiring 6 legs for the title, unless Bucks went mad against Oxon A. Sussex A took 6 of the first 8 legs against Kent to wrap up the title, and finished 10-4. Oxon A made sure each team won a match with a 9-5 win over Bucks, where Steven Sheard made the days high break of 15k No one managed 8 wins out of 8 but three players recorded 7 wins.
