Match brought forward a week so played last night......
New Oak A 3 - 2 Duke of Wellington
Ian Lelliott 2,830* - 2,450 Mick Winder Phil Osborne 930 - 11,480* Kevin Tunstall Nigel Senior 8,850 - 7,080* Chris Tupper Martin Smith 2,810* - 9,560 Terry Molloy Bob Osborne 7,880 - 3,330* Colin Smith
In leg 1, Ian was shocked to have the break, so shocked he missed the one up behind on 2nd attempt. Mick got the balls back to make 2k. Ian break number 2 makes 1k, then with break no 3 Ian gets to 4k but loses them. then with a minute to go Ian has break number 4 and make 1,300 to put us 1-0 up. This is why I gave you the break Ian!
Leg 2, KT effortlessly gets to 3k but leaves white short of the 100 on a split and pegs them next shot. Phil cant get them back and KT then gets enough next visit. Phil has a bit of one upitis with his go at the end. 1-1
Leg 3 Tupps goes in and tries to play 50s, looks good until missed a straight 50 on 2k. I get them back, having to play 10 splits to 5k but then settle down to make 8,850. Tupps runs it out for another 5k to finish a good game.
Leg 4 Martin, in for sicknote Chippers, comes in after his football so unfortunately not had a go on the recovered table. I told him be careful to not put the one up behind so he did what I though impossible and put the one up in front. This let Terry in for a 2nd time where he looked good and made a winning break.
Leg 5 Things looking grim for the Oak now with 6 times Brighton Singles Champ Colin Smith on the break. I wasnt paying full attention at the start, but I looked up and Colin was off the table and Bob was on the break. Colin had put them down 4 times! Bob played brilliantly making a 4.5k break, then after a Colin miss, Bob makes another 2.5k to seal the match for the Oak. Good night with the Wellie boys, newly recovered table very good but certainly caught players out be interesting to see how it goes this season - but not sure it is too easy which Ian told me before match started....Thanks to Martin for stepping in at late notice. Oh and we are top of the league...we are the of the league!

Chances in every game with the home team able to take advantage of more of the opportunities to give a surprising scoreline. Thoroughly enjoyable evening in good company with a nice spread of sarnies provided by Jim and Heather.

The Caxton table is interesting if that's the correct usage of the word interesting. The "D" likes to roll back to the middle. People who play off the spot will enjoy it.

Blue Anchor 4-1 Moulsecoomb Club Joe Oakley 11,330 - 1580 Dave Lee** - Dave off early and Joe made a rapid 7k, he had 3 more breaks after that showing off his new found ability to get the balls back, he was kind to Dave (or just poor) who was not at his best Tony Jenner 10,620 - 780 Martin Parsons** - Martin was one of a few members of the opposition who had a practice last week, he did not put it to good use leaving both balls short on his first break shot (he might be the only person that does that on this top all season) TJ got them back straight away but there was a bit of traffic about with a dog appearing and a large number of people walking behind and was off on 3k. He was not so charitable next break making a rapid 7K James Whittle 1650 - 9180 Colin Green** - Rev was talking a good game beforehand so was expecting a bit more than his opening 3k, he was first to get them back and was sailing along when, inexplicably, he put them down 4 times. James had his chance but didn't take it and no more opportunities as Colin made a very good 6k to the bar (Colin's break 6110) Rick Cunningham 11,320 - 2370 Phil Reay** - Captain Phil had also had a practice, don't bother next time Phil, although he did slightly better than Martin, but not by much as was off before a thousand. He was punished by Rick who smashed in a quick 7k before leaving the one up short. Rick took it easy after that as his back was going Matthew Knight 6910 - 2690 Vic McFadden** - I had also practiced, been terrible in that, but was ok for 6.5k after Vic was off early. Rubbish after that, Vic played well and probably ended up with his highest break of nearly 2k and probably his highest score as well, well done Vic. I am just too kind Good start for the hosts, top playing well, captain happy with the win as we took advantage of our opportunities. Great spread of food as always, thought the cheese and the sandwiches were very tasty. Thanks to our opponents for a good night and onto next week to the new top at the Wellie, probably be a bit noisier too as Mr Cox is back

Good report from Mr Knight and always good to see included peoples best scores and breaks especially people new to the game as it gives them encouragement and we need all the new players we can get.
