Chances for everybody and plenty of visits to the table, most games decided by a little bit of luck (good and bad) with the match only decided after the bar had dropped in the final game to give the visitors a hard-fought win. A couple of nice pizzas and some tasty chips to end the evening.

Duke of Wellington 1-4 Blue Anchor **Colin Smith 1090 - 7600 Mike Daw Kevin Tunstall 5460 - 8160 Tony Jenner** Chris Tupper 4460 - 10,090 Matthew Knight** **Dave Reeves 2120 - 8610 Chris Cox Mick Winder 5580 - 5050 Joe Oakley** To quote a previous scribe (yes you Nige) "6 times Brighton Singles Champ Colin Smith on the break" off after 2 shots as he left both balls short. Mike made a very good start with 5.5k opener and was first to get them back to make sure The Jenneral in awesome form making close to 8k opening visit, recovery shots bang on the money. Would have been close if Kevin had got them back first time but he didn't and it was too late when he did. Slain by the real Tony Jenner I made 10k and touch to give us the win, Tupps did not make many in his opening break but played it out to the bar next visit Dave was going well but managed to miss the ball close to the 50, Chris took full advantage, looking in awesome form with 8k and touch without missing a split After what had gone before disappointing that Joe could only muster 4.5k with his 3 breaks, Mick did not get many with his opening break but settled next break and made 5k, timing it perfectly to give the hosts a consolation leg Very good win for the visitors with excellent performances from our opening 4 players, table extremely good Enjoyable night in excellent company

New Oak A stay unbeaten with win at the Mariner......
Master Mariner 1 - 4 New Oak A
Mark Scott 12,770* - 630 Bob Osborne Steve Burns 3,090* - 8,280 Nigel Senior Bob Mechan 2,950* - 4,480 Marc Chipman DJ Robins 2,300* - 4,960 Ian Lelliott Darren Robins 940* - 2,940 Phil Osborne
In leg 1, Moppy went down for the Mariner so I put on the hero from the last match Bob. Moppy made a good start of around 6k which gave Bob little chance. In the end Moppy made a fine score of nearly 13k. 1-0
Leg 2, Stand in captain Burnsy put on Bob Mechan for game 2, so I put down the now fit Chippers. Then we had a U-turn from Burnsy who changed his mind and put himself down, I told Chippers to stand down and got my own cue out to play. The switch did Steve no favours as he was off early, I made 5k then another couple to put the game safe. 1-1
Leg 3 Burnsy for the 2nd time of the night put down Bob Mechan, so i asked him if he was sure and then I gave Chippers the nod. Not a pretty game to start with, both not making much when on the break. Finally Chippers got his act together and made 3k to put us 2-1 up. 1-2
Leg 4 DJ against Ian, Ian was pretty solid here and took the win that clinched the match 1-3
Leg 5 Darren and Phil spent most of the time at the back of the table and it looked like the balls were never coming back. The scores were tied around 900 each with a couple of minutes to go and Phil managed a clear up and got over the line with a 2k break. 1-4
Good night with the Mariner boys, no Gaz for them weakened them really making our lives a little easier on the night. The chef done a runner so we all had a free drink on the pub, I had 2 because Chippers gave me his freebie. So he is partly forgiven for not turning up last week. I will also get a pound off him next week at home as we have had a bet that he will put the one up behind on his first go at the new table.
