Old Oak 2, SPCC B 3 *Charlie 1420, Denise 5020 (convincing from Denise) *Margo 1390, Martin P 2790 (margin would have been higher but for 800 lost when ball came back fast onto a peg) Martin G 2720, *Genette 3280 (The new National Mixed Pairs Champ in full control early on but a pegged one-up let Martin in. His first bite of the cherry saw him draw to within a few hundred, and his second bite would have seen him home but he pegged a well-constructed 2.7k, the bar going soon after) *Paul 3400, Pete 2700 (Paul built a steady lead, Pete got going towards the end but had left it too late.) *Clive 5210, Denise (4-Plyr) 1840 (Given the break, I was all over the shop at first but luck was on my side and I only found my game after a tip from Paul) Well done to the visitors on taking the match despite having only four players (Tom in Bournemouth and Mick attending Seagulls match) and also conceding four breaks on the away table. Some good fare provided by Rebecca and Martin, the pizzas particularly nice.

Reigate Ex | 3 | - | 2 | Nomads | Les | 1210 | v | 790 | *Bruno | Bobbie | 810 | v | 1760 | *Abbey | Maria* | 980 | v | 2160 | Jim | Barry* | 3510 | v | 1700 | Michael | Les | 4200 | v | 830 | Max |
First up Les showed that once you're on the break you could score with ease, but he managed to peg 4.2k. He then lost his score on several more visits and with two minutes to the bar the score was 0-790. At this point though Les got on the table and played it out for 1210, securing a well deserved win in rather dramatic fashion. 1-0 Next up Abbey returned to play Reigate Ex for the first time since switching allegiances to the Nomads and she took her chances by adding and keeping her breaks at the bottom of the table - which was showing itself to be a vicious beast. 1-1 Third on was Jim and Maria and the game followed a similar pattern to the previous - Jim having the best of the back of the table with slow accumulation and - crucially - managing to keep his breaks. 1-2 Next up was Barry and Michael. Barry held a lead throughout but with three minutes to go he only led by 250 points - thanks in part to Michael managing to rim a ball which would fly into the peg every time he got close to getting the break back. Barry proceeded to make an excellent clear but couldn't keep on the break. Some nervy shots ensued trying to keep his points and having missed the white peg by a nats whisker twice the final blow came when Barry misjudged a shot and the ball came hurtling up the table and towards the 200 hole... surely this would take out the black? No? No it went clean as you like in the 200. The bar had already gone at this point and Barry potted the last four balls off the break to win. Michael could be described as a rabbit of negative euphoria... not a happy bunny. 2-2 Last up Les returned to the table against the "Happy One" Max. It was no surprise to see Les rack up the biggest score of the night to get a comfortable win but all the entertainment was provided by Max, with his usual style of self-commentary dominating proceedings and make sure the room was in tears - fair to say it was an enjoyable one to watch. 3-2

Spcca A 4 Salfords B 1
John 14630 Tom 270 Laurie 9880 John 1970 Junkie 220 Dave 16970 Tracy 1880 Mack nil Dave 9160 Caroline 1220
First up yours truly again v Tom. My break and off with 8k and touch listening to my teammates murmurs. Tom in with a chance but off early and I managed to get them back and all but played time out with 6k . 1-0
Up next Laurie and John. John off early gave Loz an early opportunity and he took advantage and made a useful 4k to take a good lead .A few more Shots each and Laurie was next to get the balls back. A lovely 5k playing most of the way to the bar put him in complete control and ran out a good winner. More like the old Laurie we know.
Third on Junkie and DJ. Having lost 2 frames in one match last week Dave was in recovery mood and how. An absolutely cracking 16670 break splitting Superbly put game 3 to bed. Poor old Junkie through no fault of his own has had 30 k stuck past him in 2 games.
Next on Tracy and Mack. A bit of a scrappy leg and plenty of goes each. The game all a bit new to Mack but great to see a new youngster giving it a good go. Tracy eventually making a few to get past the post.
Last but not least DC and Caroline. Caroline soon off and Dave with the break back. 5k and a sporting touch gave him a good lead. A few more goes each And Dave cleared the top and made another 3k. Frame over and the match 4-1.
A lovely evening with DJ and the Salfords B. Nice to see a young new face and a familiar one make an outstanding break.
