The LBBL 2022 Masters Tournament will take place this Sunday, 4th. December at the Locomotive starting at 11am. An earlier start than usual due to the England v Senegal football game. The top 16 available players from last season's individual ranking table complete the line up. This includes Joe Oakley who will be bidding to retain his title. There are 2 stages, a group stage followed by a knock-out stage. The format and rules are:- Group games consist of 1 game only, with equal breaks. The first named player in the tie to start the game. If the second player in an equal break game is still on their opening break when the bar drops, they may restart the mechanism. The game will be over when; a) the second player breaks down on their opening break, or b) the second player passes the first player's opening score, or c) the second player has played the bar out. Group Scoring: 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a lose. Top 2 players in each group progress into the knockout stage. In the event of tied positions, highest aggregates of all 3 group games decides. At the end of the group games, each player will have played on each of the three tables in use. Knockout stages - Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Final. 2 Single break games. Toss of coin to decide which player has the opening break in the first game, with the other player having the opening break in the second game. Highest aggregate score wins. The timetable is shown on the attached document. LBBL Masters Schedule v 2.pdf (99.64 KB) Good luck to all contestants.

Yes TJ, it is another challenge in the day-to-day life of a bar billiards secretary.
Mr. H and I met with the landlord of the Locomotive last evening and after considering the various options and with regards to other events occurring at the pub over the weekend, the most practical solution is to start the Master’s tournament as planned with the aim at least completing the quarter final stages.
If as anticipated the pub will start to fill up onwards from 5pm. due to the England football match and therefore it may not be wise to continue with the remaining rounds of the Masters. Therefore the semi-finals and the final would then be rescheduled to be played on Tuesday evening 3rd. January 2023. This will be subject to the four remaining players being available for that date. I will check with those qualifying players next Sunday as to their availability. Otherwise I will find an alternative date that will suit all which is only fair to the players who have reached the semi-final stage.

Following on from my previous note regarding this season's Masters tournament, I have since received constructive feedback and from players indicating their unavailability for Jan. 3rd. Therefore, I have revised the schedule for this Sunday's tournament to complete on the day.
Start time will now be at 11am. I would be grateful if Messrs Mole & Lelliott, Williams & Cox and Lawman & Mepham are ready to start the first set of group games at that time.
The tournament should finish around the 5pm mark. I have attached a revised timetable for your perusal and further details.
Unfortunately Richard, our host landlord cannot serve any alcohol prior to noon. Food will also be available to purchase during the day, again from noon.
Hopefully we are now good to go and I look forward to catching up with you on Sunday.
I thank you for your support and cooperation.
