Old Oak 2, Horley CC 3 *Nick 3120, Alex 2850 (Nick on table at the right time and touched on his one-up. This left Alex 2 whites to score 400 to tie. The angle was too wide for an in-off 200, so he had to improvise and tried a fine cut down the table and back: it did not work but a great effort nonetheless.) Paul 1300, *Aaron 2760 Martin 1940, *Roland 2980 Clive 10,000, *Chris 150 Charlie 600, *Nev 1740
A good night with the Horley lads, capped by some mini pasties and tasty quiche courtesy of Rebecca and Martin.

MVC B 2 v SPCCA 3 A very competitive nights billiards. Always a good evening. Wins for Colin and myself for the home team (going 2 nil up), before Tracy (5K+ break), DC and John made the comeback complete. All to play for.

SPCC B | 3 | v | 2 | Nomads | Genette | 3500 | - | 5560 | *Max | Denise | 8810 | - | 4640 | *Jim | Martin | 4790 | - | 7090 | *Michael | Mick | 7730 | - | 2470 | *JP | Pete | 7430 | - | 1770 | *Abbey |
Tonight's game foreshadows a Bill Burwood clash on the same table and same break, although the Nomads will have a 1500 start. First up Max went off steady but broke down early on 1.5k. Genette got the break back but only brought herself level. After a bit of a scrap Genette once again got the break, but a surprising miss at 2k opened the door for Max. A good clear was made by Max and he set about chasing down Genette's 2k lead. Just like against Sleezy on this top his break was steady, controlled and rarely in trouble and he managed to run the table out for 3.8k - this time though he didn't fancy putting the break down four times. 1-0. Next on captain Denise took full advantage of Jemima breaking down early on just over 1k. A beautiful 8810 break was her only visit of the game - the Special Ladies & Grand Prix champion showing her quality. Jemima then finished off with 3k, a high quality encounter. 1-1. Third up inter-league teammates Michael and Martin renewed acquaintances. Michael broke down early on 3k, but a horrible leave meant Martin couldn't get them back. A further 3.5k was enough to put the game out of Martin's reach but he came back to the table and added 4.5k over two visits - the second of which showed why Michael was glad Martin didn't manage to get the break back earlier. 2-1. Next up was a clash between the two teams form players, Mick and JP. JP sadly couldn't get going for the Nomads and it was Mick who steadily accumulated with a couple of visits to bring the tie level and down to a decider. 2-2. Last up Abbey and Pete. Abbey has been in fine touch of late but sadly she broke down early and Pete was in a ruthless mood. A solid 4k and touch was followed by another 3k to seal the game and match win for the buzzy bees. 2-3. So an entertaining game which, if repeated in the Burwood, will provide a great cup spectacle. Only time will tell if the Nomads can pull it out of the fire against the reigning champs, but if this league game is anything to go by it will be a close one!

"Top of the table clash" Mvc B 2 Spcc A 3 Colin 6240 Junkie 1020 Gary 4450 Laurie 170 Bud 1740 Tracy 5820 Geoff 3520 Dave 5670 Tony 550 John 8080
First up Colin and Junkie. Colin on with the break and off with a steady 3500 k. The table then got a few balls on but Junkie next To get them back. Going along ok but caught a split thick and off. A few more goes each and colin took a good lead. Late on Junks Cleared up but couldn't get going and Colin was a good winner.
Game 2 Gary and Laurie. Laurie on but off on 500, not an ideal start. Gary next to get the balls back and a steady 2.5k but as previously Thick split and off. A few shots traded and at last Laurie caught up with a decent break. With the game pretty close Loz chose to play A tightish one up the middle To a stunned silence over went the black and all chances of victory 2-0 and in big trouble.
Leg 3 Bud and Tracy again . Tracy's break and a tremendous confident opening effort of 5k gave her a superb chance. Bud unable to Them back struggling a bit. A few more points each and game 3 was done and the rot stopped.
Next up DC and Geoff, always good for a bit of friendly rivalry. Geoff with the break always a tough ask but he was off early and DC Had an early opportunity. Dave head down and grafting played some superb stuff to take a good lead. Geoff had one last chance but with time running out couldn't make it .A level match 2-2 .
Deciding leg yours truly and Tony a right pressure game. My break and off with 3k break a bit disappointed. Tony unable to get going I got another chance. Playing well and another good 4k break completed a terrific team fightback..
A great competitive match between the top two sides and not a lot in it. 3 points in it 8 matches to go as Gaz said game on.
