It was both an eventful day and a thoroughly enjoyable one.
Firstly some thank yous: Jeremy Fry for tables, sponsorship, presentation etc.; Dave Lillie for has tireless work behind the scenes, including levelling and ironing the tables, all of which played well; Paul and Cathy for hosting at the Masonic; Brett Parker for a huge part in maintaining the schedule and results via his own spreadsheet; Nancy for much running around getting the results slips in; Alan Mee for his efforts in running the Friday night competition and sponsorship of that, and Steve Hale for his work on the website. (Hope I haven't missed anybody)
The play was of a high standard, great to see loads of youngsters taking part and demonstrating the different sort of skills needed for this variant of the game. Loads of laughs, especially in the raucous match between the two Snooker club sides, Bath Tubbers and Rub-a-dub-dubs (so named in honour of their R.G.Mitchell of Skegness fibrelass home table)
No doubt full results will be available on the Suffolk BBA website, but meanwhile I can reveal this summary of how it went:
Phase 1 Group 1 - 1st White Horse; 2nd Brook Gloves; 3rd Rub-a-dub-dubs. Group 2 - 1st Brewery Tap 1; 2nd Surrey Blue Jays; 3rd Cornard Brook. Group 3 - 1st Half'n'halfs; 2nd Brewery Tap 2; 3rd Bath Tubbers.
Teams were then placed into three sections, top middle and bottom for the final phase, which then resulted in the following overall postions: 1- White Horse (12pts) 2- Tap 1 (6pts) 3- Half'n'halfs (6pts) 4 - Brook Gloves (8pts) 5- Tap 2 (8pts) 6- Surrey Blue Jays (8pts) - overall scores decided 7 - Bath Tubbers (10pts) 8- Rub-a-dub-dubs (8pts) 9- Cornard Brook 6pts)
Well done to Brett Parker and the rest of his White Horse team (P, A & D Shipley), convincing winners on the day - Brett winning all four of his games, a feat only matched by Jeremy Fry (B.Tap 2)

Results are all now placed on the website. They can all be found here - sbbasl.leaguerepublic.com/fg/2_143476682.htmlThe league tables do not show the total points accrued by each side as the website doesn’t offer that function unfortunately. However there are notes posted on each game with points totals to confirm that everything added up as per Brett’s excellent Spreadsheet used on the day.

Thoroughly enjoyed the short time I had there due to the rail strike. Interesting combination of modes of transport to get there! decidedly rattly old bus from Colchester
I got back ok on the final train from London at 1730hrs.
Thanks for the welcome as always, hope to see you in March (or possibly November??)

Hi All Just a few of my thoughts to add to Clives excellent posts on our exploits to Sudbury last weekend. An amazing day Of competition playing 4 pin ,competitive but played in wonderful spirit. Sudbury guys and girls certainly know how to Stage a lovely day. Tables were excellent set up by Dave, Jeremy and Alan and Brett produced a working format admined By himself and Steve. Many thanks to Cathy and Paul for hosting us. As tommo said a very respectable finish from us. The sight of Abbey making her debut against her first opponent wearing A Kilt was a sight to behold. 4 pin may be different and not everyone's Cup of tea but watching so many young players thoroughly enjoying themselves shows How popular it is in that part of the country . Roll on next March.
