The Division 3 county champs was played in Reading last night to finish the 2007 season for the counties Participants were Surrey B, Sussex B, Berkshire B, and Kent B. As it was only the ladies individuals and 4 teams there was time for each team to play each other twice giving everyone 6 games.
At the halfway point Sussex B were unbeaten on 15 points, Kent B were on 10.5pts, Surrey B 9pts and Berks B 7.5pts
Sussex B followed this with two 5-2 victories against Berks B and Kent B to put the title out of reach, a 3-4 loss to Surrey B at the end did not matter. The battle for second was very close and Berks B took it, recovering from their poor start to take two 5-2 victories against Kent and Surrey. Surrey B had to settle for third half a point adrift, and Kent B were bottom a year after being relegated from Div 2.
There were some good performance on the day, 3 Sussex players won 5 out of 6 - Dav Hampton, Bill Kerr and Martin Smith. Martin also took the highest break (9,820) and recorded the best average (6,885)
Sussex B now move into Division 2 and will be replaced in division 3 by Cambridgeshire.
My thanks to the players who did a lot of scoring especially helping out with the All England Ladies.
Div 3 P W L Score Player Ave Pts 1 Sussex B 6 5 1 174,460 4,154 28.0 2 Berks B 6 2 4 118,300 2,817 19.5 3 Surrey B 6 3 3 126,960 3,023 19.0 4 Kent B 6 2 4 129,310 3,079 17.5

Well done Sussex B, and no doubt you will be wishing to emulate Oxon B next year by going all-out to win Div.2. ;)
