I am given to understand that next week TKO game between Loci A & Wollie Pinks has been switched from The Royal Oak to The Maypole.

Or, quite possibly the other way about? I thought you Loci chaps played yer first round game at The Pole - and the switch is to The Oak for that very reason. Non?? ???

Are Mr A, I think you'll find that the Loci B played their 1st round @ Maypole & were drawn there again in the 2nd round which i believe was the reason that our game was switched, we (Loci A) managed to beat your old sparring partners The coach & horses in the 1st round which was played @ Woolpack.

It is correct that we will indeed see you at the Maypole Duncan as per our update: ;)
First things first, the Team Knockout competition. It has been brought to my attention that the Locomotive B played their 1st round match at the Maypole. Therefore the Locomotive B v Winterton Arms has been switched to the Royal Oak and the Woolie Pink v Locomotive A has been switched to the Maypole (pasted from Pete's E-mail)
Look forward to it, was a bit concerned that some of you Littlehampton chaps played there on a Tuesday! But Simon cleared that up last night.......the only thing he did clear mind ;)

Are yes i understand your concern myself & Mr Dynes did play there on tuesday but what would be more concerning is our wednesday team played there as well but if you had seen our individual performances you would be licking your lips in anticipation.

It's an excellent table and venue and since no season has gone past for us without playing a Loci team at the Maypole in the TKO it just keeps everything normal! ;D

Tim i have to agree with you there normally an excellent table and a good venue, i say normally because Wednesday night saw me play first and as the table is in the bowling alley and its very cold out there so when the Maypole turned up they turned on all the heaters. The table played very very sluggish and was dead at the top and unresponsive everywhere else so the shots you expected to work didn't so i ended up losing!!, well thats my excuse and i am sticking to it. Look forward to meeting you there next week.

Regarding a neutral table. Is there not a rule that requires both teams not to use the table for 24hrs. If they play there 72hrs beforehand this is irrelevant?

Thought it was 48 hours, but in any case it relates to a practice session rather than owt else - if the league decides to use this table - and it is one of the best we have - the fact that our scheduling closely follows that of another league is unfortunate. 8-) More so with the number of teams / players using that top regularly - extremely hard to avoid without compromising the playing surface.
LadyH; the link if you please; my current strategy is to avoid singles games as I have run out of excuses! Some new ones would be nice.. ;)

I quite agree with Tim The Maypole is a 1st class venue & i would certainly have no objections if the boot was on the other foot especially as the place is easily accessible for our lot anyway.

Excuses! Stick to the simple one B******s ! sums it up for me! :'(
indeed a neutral table should not be played (in a lets pop down and give it a go kind of way) within 24 hours..however if this is caused by a decision made by our or another league decision this rule would be waived with respect. We will of course have tried to avoid that happening as I am sure if a team was advised that this was going to happen they would ask for their venue to be switched....we are that sort of a league I think
saw an interesting debate on this site where the average away score was 18,000!! :o would have been a great night out!! :-X
And LC I will be sure to chill the table as much as pos before the heaters go on then! ;D But then you would Know what to do now ???

Honchair, no problem, plenty of links for you but first, some new excuses for you to use: I felt sorry for the other team................. When you win, the fans tear up your city................. Those guys are good! I chose the wrong role models................ I forgot to scratch my lucky crotch...................... That fire in my belly was just gas................. It's only a game................. This venue is too small for my enormous talent............... The earth's magnetic field disrupted the flight of the ball....... Or choose your own at: www.excuses.co.ukwww.excuselist.comBut for the mother of all excuses: www.madtbone.tripod.com 8-) 8-)

Some good ones there if you check the sites. My favourite is: My Super-Powers failed me. A definite; works on all levels for me - reverse psychology included. Next up though will be this one. The earth's magnetic field disrupted the flight of the ball Can't see the point in using anything that can be dismissed without debate! 8-) ;D
