I would put myself out to see it possible, though there is planning and lots of it.
I have set a deadline for May 2011, this deadline will be achieved hopefully with full support of the Cambridge Commitee and league.
The list is long however if done the reward is far greater. Here is the list of things to do. If anybody anywhere can help then we would grab you with both arms ;D
Here are the things I propose that we get done:
The venue is a good start, being Cambridge there are a lot of venues about, wether we can stick a load of tables in them is questionable. Also for the right price.
The tables, who is going to supply and set up all these tables, now from what I understand there are 2 people who supply. I will be making contact to both as soon as the venue is picked.
Finance, This is the big one cost of tables, venue and prizes. Plus prize money for the finalists and semi finalists (maybe quarter finalists). The money has to come from somewhere. I don't mind chipping in from my own pocket as long as it is reasonable. Sponsorship is a big question, however as things stand it looks like generous donations :-[
Trophies and Raffle, I propose that there should be a nice big trophy for this Open also one that can be singled out from the rest as being part of Cambridge. The raffle tickets can help hugely towards the cost along with entry fees. The raffle prizes should be big and also more of. However due to a schedule we will have to work it out.
Profit, the profit should go back into the Cambridge league to help with Trophies and running costs, that way we will have some money incase of another rainy day! Also hopefully see the return of the Team Knockout.
There are a lot of things to do, though the deadline is realistic if we all pitch in. I feel that in these dieing days in Cambridgeshire we should have at least one big boom in something!
Feel free to give your suggestions and advice we need it!
