Brewery Tap B 3 Windmill C 2
Well done to the Tap B on their second and well deseved win of the season. A game played in good spirits, banter a`plenty, followed by french bread with ham and mixed cheese.
CHRIS PEMBERTON 5570 1190 TONY JENNER ANDY? RAEY 4480 1210 DAVE ANSCOMBE ROSE MACGUINNESS 1310 3620 BILL KERR PHIL RAEY 820 7560 GINA SHERRATT IAN COLLINS 2170 740 ARTHUR BREWSTER
FIRST TWO GAMES TAP PLAYERS PLAYED WELL AND NEITHER TJ OR DAVE COULD GET THE BREAK BACK. BILL MADE ENOUGH ON HIS OPENING GO ON TABLE TO MAKE SURE THEN SPENT REST OF GAME ENSURING HIS OPPONENT HAD TABLE TIME. GINA PLAYED VERY WELL TO WIN FOURTH, ARTHUR WAS ENOUGH IN FRONT TO WIN DECIDER, BUT DECIDED TO TAKE OUT THE BLACK PEG. AGAIN WELL PLAYED THE TAP,AND YOUR CELEBRATIONS WELL WORTH WATCHING.

Brewery Tap scrape win at the Duke of Wellington last night. The Duke had chances to win but ultimately just failed to take them.
Duke of Wellington B 2 – 3 Brewery Tap A
Nick Simmonds 3,400* – 11,260 Nigel Senior Mark Senior 11,110* – 1,880 Chris Reeves Pete Brown 6,200* – 2,430 Richard Wooton John Perrin 1,480* – 1,900 Marc Chipman Tim Scotney 3,140* – 3,470 Gareth Lloyd
Game 1 – Nick made only 800 to start with and thought it was curtains when Nigel got the balls straight back on his home Thursday table. But Nigel to missed a split by putting the red inside the 50. Nick then got back on the break to make a 2.5k lead, but when Nigel got the balls back a second time a swift 8k break put the Tap 1-0 up.
Game 2 – Mark Senior made his new highest Brighton score beating his 10k score from last week. Chris didn’t get many chances in this game as my dad played very well, he did get the break back when 7k down with 6 minutes left, but a missed one up when trying to go quick ended his chances 1-1.
Game 3 – Pete has been improving of late and was always in front of Richard in the third game. Richard did get the balls back but failed to capitilise and didn’t really threaten to overhaul Pete’s score and now the Tap were in trouble. 2-1
Game 4 – regg3y was suffering from a bad back and was out of sorts, but Marc could not impose himself in a must win game for the Tap. It was all down the back of the table after regg3y’s opening 500. Marc eventually sunk a few 50s at the end to make a winning lead to setup the decider. 2-2
Game 5 – Tim will be rueing his missed chances. He pegged his opening 2k break. Gareth got the balls back to make only 800. Tim pegged another break but got another chance and made 3k with only 3 minutes left. Gareth got the break back and squeaked home by 330 just doing enough when the bar dropped. 2-3
We were thinking that the both the Tap and the Horseshoes pretty much need to win every game second half to win the Brighton title, so a loss last night would have made the Horseshoes favourites. The Duke should have won last night really, so it was relief all round for the Tap players.

Without trying to make up excuses, I was further hampered by Tim knocking a cold pint of Thatchers Cider over me. This made for a smelly, wet, cold and sticky pair of trousers for the rest of the evening.
