Are any of you fisherman and have fished the lake at Wicksteed Park?
I was there yesterday and wondered what species are in the lake, I saw tench bubbles and the odd carp jumping but what else is in there.
It was a nice day out, even though it was raining.
I was expecting to see lots of animals & birds, but Linda told me I was getting mixed up with Whipsnade......silly me. :-[ ;D
I did see some nice budgies though. :)
Keith.

I used to live behind the park and spent my childhood there, the boating lake wasn't the place to fish really, there is another lake beyond that and we used to go for the pike in there :D

That part is known as the nature trail or the backwaters, all lakes are manmade and fed from the river Ise, which behind that lake meets another river, the Slade. As far as I'm aware there is no stocking of that lake but, we used to get some pearlers of pikes 8-) i used to take them home and eat them ;D Glad you had a good day there Keith as I've very fond memories of the place, I haven't been there for years, even though it's still close by. My parents go there often, it's a short walk for them, and with them both being pensioners they have each a thirty pounds wrist bracelet for the WHOLE season :o they can use that day in day out and really take advantage of it. I must visit the old place again.
If you want some good fishing there's a plenty round where i live now, flooded gravel pits full of carp, tench and trout farms, and of course the odd Pike 8-) the river Nene is good as well.
