Ok, it is only a small point I know, but there is NO such event as the Men's All-England.
It is indeed the All-England Individual Championship as ladies can take part in it if they qualify from their county play-offs, and have done so on more than one occasion.

I just want to say that the All England Individuals was run today perfectly to schedule and all tables were in top form. Great to meet and play both Phil Collins and Mark Brewster they showed me the "Next level" of which I aspire to. I did beat Bob Chapple though so not all doom and gloom plus only lost the first game by 500 score.
I would be honoured as always to represent Cambs for this event and hope I get their the proper route next time round.
Took 3 hours to get home but well worth it, thanks everyone involved plus thanks to KT for his encouragement!

Congrats to `Fast track` Phil Collins on taking the A.E. title today. He beat Tony Walsh in the final.
Group A consisted of - Phil(Oxon), Mark Brewster(Kent), Johnny George(Cambs), Ernie Jordan(Bucks) & Bob Chapple(Guernsey).
Group B - Tony(Berks), Gary Powell(Surrey), Rick Dewdney(Sussex), Daniel Woolvin(Hants) & Andy Chambers(Northants).
Group A boiled down to a shoot-out between Phil & Mark. Their match could have gone either way with Phil opening with 13k in the first, Mark played out the rest with 6k. Only 7k to chase down, Mark opened with 8k+ but let Phil in. He never retrieved the break but Mark did, adding another 2k. This was not enough as Phil finished the table off for the win. Nice to see Johnny & Bob make their long journeys to Reading.
Group B looked between Tony, Rick & Gary, but when Rick(who was playing well) lost both games to Tony, the writing was on the wall. Gary neede to beat him but it didn`t happen, so Tony went through.
The final was on a slowish table 4. Phil left his first one-up over the hole, Tony made about 3k but let Phil back in. He ran the time out for an 8k lead. Tony was off at 1100 in the second game and Phil got them back to make a 6k break. Tony then conceded.
A good day, well run by Dave Alder on his own for the first time. Just a couple of small glitches with the High breaks, but they were corrected. Well done Dave

Well done to Bob Chapple for traveling the greatest distance and flying the flag for Guernsey and 'The Channel Islands' when it comes down to it. Congratulations to Phil for a great performance.

Well done to Phil Collins for winning this much coveted title, hard luck Tony, so close to making it into the illustrious group who have won it twice.
Good to see ten representatives again lets hope we see a good number of ladies next week.
And well done to Dave Alder it seems to have gone very well so far.

Well done to Phil on winning and taking the high break award. Congrats to Dave on a well run day and let the critism run like water of a ducks back, I do not see the whingers stepping up to the plate or offering help. As you rightly said let them attend the AGM and put forward constructive ideas that can improve things to alls satisfaction. Tony.

A brilliant win for Phil....
Just like to say a really big thank you to Daniel Woolvin for standing in for Hants at the 11th hour with 10 minutes notice...
Considering it is his second real season this year he was outstanding to play against such high and very supportive competition...
You are a star!!!

Speaking to Gary Powell on Friday, Johnny, he was impressed by your play in this event and thought you were an awesome prospect for the future. ;)
Pity about your coat, but you've now left it too late before saying anything. Someone there today could have made some enquires for you.
Last November when we arrived home after the Kipling Challenge, margo realised that she'd left her cardie up in Northants. Manky old thing, but with sentimental value. I contacted the Colemanator and he was kind enough to retrieve it from the pub and mail it back to her down here. Kindness personified, and he wouldn't even accept reimbursement of the postage. I owe him a large pint when I next see him. 8-)
You could try sending a letter to the Post Office Club, Johnny: with their connections it may have been found and transferred to 'lost property' waiting for someone to claim it. ;)
