Champions defeated by Lewes "virgins"........well, a couple of them! :o ;D
Sportsman 4 Bridge 1
Lifesabitch (Big TJ) 3460 - 4050 Jean Brackenridge Jean off early when the ball "jumped" on part of the table, Tony got the balls back straight away but only managed a few hundred. A few more jumps from Jean (combined with right balls rolling left..... or was it left balls rolling right? :o)) and TJ put in a nice 2k+ break with Jean immediately replying with about the same to maintain the lead. Tony had a few chances but Jean did enough. 0-1 :(
Henry "H" Brooks 7260 - 6360 Marcus Chipman An inauspicious start with H off at the first split and Marcus pegging his reply..... which turned into a terrific game! H got the break back and touched up after a lovely 6.5k break, only for Marcus to come charging after him....! Marcus made a faultless 6240 until, with just over a minute left, he dropped the one up short and missed his next shot. Henry was glad to put a few balls down to make sure...... great game guys! 8-) 1-1 ;D
Gina Sherratt 4320 - 820 Kevin Stoner Kev off early and Gina got the balls back a couple of times, first time only making 800 but then 2.5k to make sure after with Kev struggling..... 2-1 ;D ;D
Charlie Cooper 5950 - 990 Lee Chipman A solid 2k opening break from Charlie put Lee under pressure, Charlie getting the break back a couple more time to make sure of the win....... despite Jean's vocal support for Lee! ;) 3-1 ;D ;D ;D
BB Warrior 9890 - 1970 Alan Brackenridge Alan off at just over 1k and we both experienced Jeans "bumps" for a while..... :o ...... before I managed to get the balls back and put in a slow 9k break to make sure. 4-1 ;D ;D ;D ;D
Excellent evening, plenty of friendly banter from both teams and some good games thrown in as well.... together with the usual Sportsman buffet banquet..... 8-)

Yes good start for teh Sportsman, pity I had one of my nights, but would have been an injustice if Jean had lost as she was the first to experience the jumping ball and went on to suffer the same fate with shots up the middle right.
Indeed a banquet, looked as though they cater for the masses, but not complaining as wonderful chips. Game played in great spirit, plenty of banter and for me the only way is up, well at least next week ??.

May I just say how well Marcus played and point out how I nearly had a heart attack after touching up and then watching in horror as it looked certain I would be caught. Well played Marcus and very unlucky not to have nicked that game!
Also well played to Captain Dave with a great 9k break - just the ticket!

Yes, it was a great game to watch and score......!! 8-) Marcus was very much on schedule to catch you until he left the one up slightly shorter than he wanted, leaving a very tough shot at that stage of the match...... not often that you hit a 6k plus break away from home and end up losing the game. :o :o

Sorry about the late match report chaps, but I is a busy bee!!!!!
Brewers kick of this seasons campaign with a bang!!!!!!
Brewers Droops 5 The only way is Up 0
Sir Jock 3680 Sarah Hughes 2710 I should never have won this one tonight, I was never in the match until I fluked the break back and slipped in 3k to win it, sorry Sarah.
Mr Reaper Hall 12,850 Russell Jennings 310 Kev of to flyer this season with a cracking opening break of 10,500. Highest break so far on the revamped brewers top, Poor Russ could do nothing but watch.
Bravo Bateup 9180 Kevin Stevens 1310 Both players puttered around for the opening few minutes but a superb 6k+ from the ex ponytailed guy killed of the challange from Kev, a further break of 3k from bravo was just showing of.
Papa Hall 1340 Liam Churcher 520 Strange match this one, with neither player really taking command, had liam kept half of the score's he'd made then he would have run out a comfortable winner, spilling breaks of 2500, 1500 and 900 respectivly, papa hall didn't have much to do other than let liam score then peg it.
Sandra Race 3080 Peter Shaw 660 Peter's continued search for a victory must unfortunatly go on, a strong solid performance from Sandra, and dogged determination from peter made it a very entertaining match.
Usual mass of banter for jock whom it must be said is a little under the weather, but still managed to abuse mostly everyone around him. Great spread of food served up by the ever working Mike think, it was chilli, but I don't care cause there wasn't a sausage in sight. I even took some home, yes it was that nice!!!!!!
Bad luck to the oppo, they came up against a determined team and an equally determined captain looking for some reward for all the hard work looking after the table throught the summer, and was proudly rewarded with kev and adam hitting big, and a decent performance from the rest, well pleased am I.

Great to see some good scores, must mean that the table is playing well so we can look forward to our game there on Monday....!! 8-)
Perhaps you should put a copy of your post (by deliberate mistake!) on the Mid-Sussex board....... maybe Tommo will lift you up a couple of places in the Tables table..... ;D ;D
Well done the Droops....... first place in the league now....... so the Only Way is Down!! ;) :P
But a strange lack of ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D in your report young Jock!! :o :o

Just my fifty cents - I think we should encourage member of other teams to post on here, because its always this "select" group of us posting results and comments etc. Would be nice to see a full compliment using the board!

Funnily enough I suggested the same thing to mid sussex committee, of which I am also on, and again nothing done.

It does seem hard work to get the word spread, I do mention the forum to people at matches and it does work to a degree. We have had some success in Worthing with more teams posting and getting results from all sections of the league.
I think the first thing we have to do is convince people it is for players of all standards and not justa means of praising the best. I for one find it interesting to see others achievements, especially their first best scores/breaks. Other input also keeps things fresh and adds comments from new perspectives. Lets hope those of us who want to promote the game as a whole can keep preaching and get others on board.

I'm tempted to print out a load of flyers and hand them out to teams every time I play...:P What a great idea, H ! Why has no-one thought of this before ?How about doing an electronic one, usable by all (not just the Lewes league) which any of us can then download, photocopy, and hand out at 'events'. The simplest ideas are often the best, and the obvious is most easily overlooked !
