Laughing Fish 3 - 2 Greyhound
Ray Carpenter 1940 vs 5420 Trevor Rees
A good start for Trevor with 2.5k, then both players making a few medium sized breaks with a couple of 1ks from Trevor near the end solidifying his win.
Chris Ashford 1240 vs 1580 Paul Goodwin
Chris hit just under 2k in his opening break, but then proceeded to knock the black peg over with an over hit shot at the back of the table. Chris almost caught paul late on but the bar went at the wrong time and Paul just about kept his lead.
Henry Brooks 9030 vs 2810 Neil Burchell
After a slow start from both players, I got the break back and hit a 6k break, leaving one ball up from the split and then underhitting the next shot. Neil put in a slow 1k but I got back on to finish off with another 3k.
Jim Ashford 5980 vs 3580 Peter Burchell
Peter had the lead for most of the game, playing the table well, but a late 3k table play out from Jim got him an excellent victory. A pleasure to watch!
Andy Brooks 3530 vs 2380 Geoff Fairs
Again Geoff was ahead for most of the game due to his 1.5k opener, but Andy managed a late 1k break to tip the balance and get the win!
Another highly enjoyable night, with great company who we hopefully filled up nicely with the Beef Balti. I myself couldn't help going for seconds!

St Francis lost 3-2 to CKBL. Do not have the scores because we lost. But you're too modest, Shaun. I happen to have some insider information on one of the scores, thus: The Special One 8340 Shaky Coles 420 8-)

Brewers Bravos 1, Handcross Z 4
Ponytailed Guy 4020, Mr Mike007 3480 Liam Churcher BP, tommo 3220 Richard 'Spud' Spurrier 200, Barry Timson 2340 Nikki Hinkins 1060, margo 1360 Paul Moyes-Robb 2250, Graham Daniels 2720
Valianteffort from the Bravo's with the Zeds grateful to hold onto whatever luck came their way.
First game was cut and thrust, Mick getting his nose in front at one stage after PTG had made the early running, but Adam then snatched it at the end. Young Liam outplayed tommo for well over half the game, with some nice flourishes, but pushed too hard when tempted by an in-off red in the 100, and tragically felled the black. He later won the raffle, but small consolation really. Spud had an even game going with Barry until he too blackpegged, to hand the game to a rather relieved Barry and put the Zeds 2-1 up. Nikki put up a great fight in game four, potting into the 200 hole on three separate occasions, but losing the break each time. Margo played steady throughout. Graham, on last, found it hard to judge the pace early on, and trailed for most of the game, finding it with more or less his last visit.
Excellent food at this venue: spicy chicken drummers, tidgy toads, and very tasty chips. A very enjoyable evening.

I have attempted to modify the fixtures list in accordance with previous, but appear to have committed an error. My changes are OK, but the previous entries have altered.
H, when you win a match, could you please ring the result to Jan on 01293 612829 straight after the match
Many thanks

I know we'll get the weekend writeup, but shall be grateful for any snippets in the meantime......

Thanks Kev, did that, but the entries that had already been edited, also changed. I didn't think other people could change my post, they obviously can, so I blame them for the mess. Leave my posts alone please.
H. Jan is disabled and doesn't get regular visits to her PC so can you please ring in the same way as every other winning captain does. I am aware that they know of her situation and you don't, and I don't mean to be offensive in any way. (bloody eggshells all the time now)
Tommo, Jan just gets the match results by 'phone, apart from your special delivery, we won't see scores until the cards get in, Friday or Saturday.

A great night had by all, no major breaks to consider, big andy with the biggest of 3k, yours truly with a couple of 2k's to boot. A good table with a couple of quirks but very much playable, when you get to grips with the pace, or lack of in this case.
Superb spread of food easily could have fed another couple of teams, and the crispy shredded lamb with sweet chilli was sublime. Bravo!!!!!!!

White Horse 2 - 3 USC
(in order played) Colin Mansfield 2780 - 2900 Mick Kirwan Mick snatched this right at the end of the game.
Will Shaw 1820 - 700 Ron Wales Scrappy game with Ron scoring more on the pegs ;D
Colin Marshall 0 - 1230 Tim Best Colin should have won this game but Black Pegged much to the relief of Tim.
Ian Powell 1180 - 0 Andy Short Andy Black Pegged with the last ball :'(
Trevor Howes 3560 - 4040 Sparky Best game in the last. I came off very early from the break and Trevor took the lead, we then messed about for while until I put in a decent break (3k I think) which Trevor couldn't quite overhaul in time on this tricky table.
No comment about the food :-/ :-X
IanG sent me result for Hurst B but that is already noted above. No individual scores I'm afraid.

That deserves a 'very well done' for winning a well-contested decider.
On a sad note, I hear that one of the White Horse players, Jim Quinn, has passed on? Condolences to his family and of course to his team.

Thank you Tommo and am sorry to hear about Jim Quinn and my condolences to his family and friends too, pity I didn't hear about that last night when the loss of Lawrance Peplar was talked about with Ian Powell.
Incidentally I understand that the change of ownership is due on or about the 3rd November, and although they know who it is they do not really know what will happen yet.

Yes, news and having just spoken to Colin it seems that it was very sudden about 2 weeks ago. Jim was a lovely guy, very enthusiastic and an excellent team mate who nearly always turned up for matches, whether he was actually playing or not. I understand that the funeral is tomorrow, my sincere condolences to his family, friends and team mates. He will be sadly missed. :'(

Watermill B v Hurst B
Sabina Williams 710 v Ian Griffin 3620 Martin Range 1770 v John 1870 Gavin Boyd 2770 v Steve King 4610 Steve Lathwell 430 v D.Skinner 2690 Paul Blackburn 2130 v Chris Kirkham 1810
Ian started with a break of 1300 Sabina then got a break of 350.Ian followed up with another break of 1000+ .Sabina seemed to struggle although it must be said she did not have much luck with the balls. 0-1 Martin started with a break of only 520 and this seemed to be the story of this match.John managed a break of about 850 and Martin managed to match him.Down to the last ball and Martin needed just the 100 hole to win and missed then his opponent missed another chance for Martin and he missed again that was his last shot. 0.2 Steve started with only 500 and Gavin was struggling Steve made another 1000.Gavin then got a quick? 1400 and the match wasalmost all square and then Steve made a quick 2000+ and Gavin was out of time but best game of the night. 0.3 Steve started with only 150 and his opponent got a breakof 950 while Steve really struggled and his opponent got another 850 and the game was over. 0.4 Chris started with only 100 from the break and I scored nothing from my first few goes.I then got a break about 1500 during which I left the red ball right down by the baulk line which meant getting the break back was quite difficult.I managed a couple of hundred in the left hand 50 hole and although Chris got another 600 at the end he ran out of balls. 1.4
Good evening and the Hurst B boys helped make it a very enjoyable evening apart from the result.

Don't start sniping at me Mr Moderator, you've already caused more than your fair share of trouble on these boards. I know where you live, lad, and you're not too far away that I can't visit. The report goes out usually on Saturday and I don't see the need to do it twice.
I hope you're all getting the Middy, the presentation has changed and the review, as it is now called, gives a lot emphasis to our League, and has a wider audience than here.
Thank you Q for cleaning up the grubby bits on the results post, I will try to do better next time.

Good to see news going into local papers can again only be good for the profile of the game. Also pleasing getting more people on board towards advertising the game. Looking around now locally and nationally there are a number of younger players and some of them to a very high standard. We need those on board now to tell their mates how good an evening out it is.

I hope you're all getting the Middy, the presentation has changed and the review, as it is now called, gives a lot emphasis to our League, and has a wider audience than here. Nah ! This goes out all over the World. ;D ;D ;D Seriously, it's brilliant that you're using the Forum more regularly, Roy. Sure, some of us are a bit 'abrasive' and wind each other up to everyone else's dismay, but I would hold that a fierce debate is better than no reaction at all: nothing worse than being ignored completely... Adding a 'smiley' to your message can indicate the mood of the message and say in advance if the comment is lighthearted ;D or upset :'( or even angry >:( Or if you're Jock you can just put the lot in to represent a whole gamut of emotions. ::)
