:( :( :(
Competition entries are looking pretty ropey so far :
men's singles : 9 ladies singles : 3 senior singles : 9 lower division singles : 3 men's pairs : 10 mixed pairs : 5
It's difficult to run competitions with entries of 5 and 3 so can we please have a rethink by you bar billiard players out there and get a few more entries in

Having registered as a reserve for a Horsham team, I had hoped to enter the Mens Singles, Lower Division Singles and Mixed Doubles this year......... until I found out that matches have to be played on a fixed date (Mondays I am told) which clashes with my Lewes League commitments. :(
So, unless there is the chance to play a potential opponent on a mutually agreeable date (as happens in Mid-Sussex, Worthing & Lewes competitions!) that unfortunately that rules me out. ::)
Could this be a reason that entries are low.......?? ???

Hi Dave I do believe you are Not registered! until you play a match :o or this was how it was last year :o
I didn't always play my competitions on the night that was specified, BUT they had to be played before the date given
Might be an idea to speak to The Old Fella about it. If you do enter Good Luck ;)

Regfistration in Horsham only happens when a players name appears on a score card testifying that they have played a match. As in other leagues, we not not encourage part players or trophy hunters to contest for honours that should be for full-bloodied Horsham players. I do not make these decisions alone and if you wish to enter competitions, please make your request known to our chairman, Graham Sparksman, as I have not received any competition entry forms with your name on them.
We share the Monday night scenario with Billingshurst and it works well. Multi-league players can, of course, play on other days as long as the matches are played before the play-by date.
I cannot comment on the reason for low entries, but as we are flexible on the play-by time, this cannot be the root cause.
The lower division competition will not go ahead because of the low numbers, the players having transferred to the Seniors competition - but I don't suppose you qualify here, not having sufficient years.
I look forward to receiving your entry form.

I was certainly told (by several people who play in Horsham) that it was NOT possible to play competitions on another night, hence the reason that I did not enter. However, had I entered and then read your comment about trophy hunters, I would have withdrawn out of principal..... I compete in competitions because I love playing the game and it is nice to visit new venues and play different people.......! I only agreed to sign on for a team in Horsham to help them out as they were short of players last year, glad to say that they haven't needed me so far and seem to be doing pretty well this year. Good luck to everybody taking part in the Horsham League and Competitions this season.
