Sportsman 3 Hurst B 2
Pam Peacock 890 - 860 Darrell Skinner Dazza started with only 300, but he got a second go at the break and strangely missed it! :o Pam made good use of the 100 hole before pegging her score, but with the game getting very scrappy she slowly caught Darrell up, sinking the last ball in the 100 hole first time to secure a memorable victory! 1-0 ;D :o
BB Warrior 12,300 - 190 John Lear Opening break of 1.5k, with John unlucky not to get the break back. Two more visits to the table bought breaks of 6k+ and 4k+ to finish the game. 2-0 ;D ;D
Tony Driver 1,160 - 2,700 Ian Giffen A slow start but Ian got a nice 1.3k break to take the lead, with Tony unable to catch him. 2-1 :(
DA-DM 2600 - 2780 Steve King Both players scored 650 in their first visit, both got the break back again with Steve hitting 1.6k to open up a lead. Although Colleen did most of the scoring after that, Steve did enough to just stay out of reach. 2-2 :( :'(
Lady Ros 3130 - 2880 Paul "Supersub" Jobbins Paul opened up with 650, both players had a few goes each before Ros got the break back and scored a good 2780 and left the balls awkward. Paul had to play up the middle of the table and just clipped the Black Peg hard enough to knock it over, losing about 1k. Although he got the balls back on his next visit and played the table out, he fell just short of Ros's score. 3-2 ;D ;D ;D
As always, the Hurst were as gracious in defeat as they are in victory, some good close games and good company..... a most enjoyable evening. ;D

Laughing Fish 1 vs 4 Plough
Chris Ashford 1540 vs 3490 Geoff Parsons
Geoff opened with 1.5k. After that both player struggling to get anything back, and the remaining scores made at the end of the table.
H 12100 vs 760 Des Gasson
I was off early at 1.5k after playing a break short and missing at the back of the table. After a bit off faffing from both parties I got the balls back for another 3k. Back to a bit more faffing before I once again got them back to make a late 6.5k break and touch up as soon I missed a 50-10 split and left a tricky ball at the back.
Les Whiteman 1740 vs 3050 Mark Potter
First few breaks from both players saw pegs flying. Then Mark put in a steady 1k, to take his lead which remained throughout with the rest of the game at the end of the table.
Ray Carpenter 1770 vs 3790 Mark Webber
Ray came off early and Mark got straight in there with a 2.5k break. As with previous games it then went to the end of the table throughout.
Andy Brooks 1080 vs 6140 Keith Potter
Keith upon with 1.5k. Andy then had a number of chances to retaliate but couldn't get going, bit of end of table play then a late 3k from Keith sealed game and match.
Great company. Yet another new team to us, and a good laugh, nice to see the chilli con carne completely devoured!

Watermill 'B' 3 - 2 USC
Steve Lathwell 1050 - 1000 Ron Wales Steve won with the last ball down the 200 pocket :o
Gavin Boyd 980 - 9460 Graham Sparksman On my second visit made a 4k break then later put in another 4k to play the clock out, pity would have liked another minute ;D
Martin Range 2990 - 2400 Mick Kirwan Game could have gone either way but Martin came through well to win :)
Tony Williams 3270 - 870 Richard Kirwan Messy game early on but Tony got it together while Richard did not :-/
Paul Blackburn 1090 - 2230 Andy Short This game could have gone either way too but Andy pulled out a lead that Paul couldn't pull back.
New top is good, only a little slow but that can be solved with a regular ironing, good food and banter, thanks Waterbaby 'B's ;D

Handcross Z 1, Watermill A 4
Handcross maintained their charitable vein and chucked away two gilt-edged frames. tommo's poor run of form shows no sign of ending and the only player from either side who seemed happy with the table was MrMike007 who recorded his first win of the season. In all the other games the balls got stuck in the right hand corner of the table. (tommo's fault for trusting the table after reports of Tony Temple getting 9k on it last week, and leaving it be.)
Graham Daniels 940, ChrisNikolaj 2370 (Graham had a 5k break going at the end and tried to split wide of a peg but it pulled right on him) MrMike007 6500, Kim 'laser eyes' Stenning 1930 (Mick's first win in six and Kim's first defeat in six) tommo 1360, Rodney Storr 2330 (Rod played the back of the table well, tommo always up against it and only got them back 30 seconds before the bar went) Johnny Haigh BP, Norman Cragg 1490 (Johnny committed hari kiri with the game won and the bar gone) Barry Timson 1310, John Staplehurst 2460 (an exact replica of tommo's game)
The Zeds' game plan of lulling the rest into a false sense of security appears to be working a treat ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

HURST A 3 CKRBL 2
GAME 1
Lee Morley 270 dilly Williamson 5450
After dilly missed the break to start off with i was so pleased as we knew what a formidable player he is but unfortunately lee was unable to get to grips with the table and dilly made sure he had a comfortable lead and secured the win for the visitors. 0-1 :(
GAME 2 rob (bobhall) hall 7310 peter Edwards 780
this was the match of the captains rob break and off with only 2800 was happy but knowing full well was worried as he knew what peter was capable of getting. unfortunately this was not the case peter unable to get the break back rob slipped in another 3.5k break to give him a healthy lead and secure the win. 1-1 :)
GAME 3 Roy wells 6680 Ted stringer 2690
Ted off early with only 300 after leaving balls up Roy then went on the table only to score a few with Ted back on the table after a few trys managed to build a 2k lead before Roy managed to get the break back and finish the table off with a 6k score well done Mr Roy played a superb frame. 2-1:)
GAME 4 peter hall 5620 shaky coles 2030
peter off with a superb break of 5130 to put shaky up with a challenge but shaky come back fighting with a 1.8k peter and shaky then doing nothing much until shaky got the balls back needing 3k unfortunately the bar dropped on 1.5k and he hit the peg in knowing he couldn't win. therefore a win for Hurst and the team win also 3-1 :)
GAME 5 Andy hall 4080 Derek Taylor 4530
this was the game to watch with Derek missing the break and only scoring 5 rolly went on and knocked in a 2.8k break unfortunately this was not enough with a few trys Derek got the break back and slipped in just over 4k and then leaving the balls at the back of the table after a few trys rolly got the break back and making a 1k break before leaving balls up. with only 300 in it the bar dropped rolly tried hard to clear the table and keep the red in play even leaving it in the tray and picking the white up when it was Derek's turn but Derek wasn't having any and finished the game off well done Mr Taylor 3-2 :(
an excellent evening spent with everybody enjoying themselves and good to see no sandwiches left and i wish the CKRBL good luck next week

St Francis 2 Brewers Droops 3 :P :P :P
Chris Little 1740 Mama Hall 3080 Mama Hall up first in what proved to be a difficult tie all round. Steady as she went wth a struggling to get going Chris, whom has to be said battled hard but found too much wood. 0-1
Bob Ellis 1620 Sir Jock 1540 And a good return to non form for yours unruley, with a not unexpected result from me on my least fav table in the world. Bob was in front for practically the entire scrappy affair, with me battling to keep up, finally caught and passed him with the last two balls on table, then of course promtly missed the 100 to win it. Well played Bob. 1-1
Ray Fogwell 1010 Noddy Humphrey 2300 Noddster up next and took good advantage from a struggling Ray, and once more battling it out at the back of the table to put us back in front. 1-2
Matt Geal 2650 Bar Billy FW 4100 And again big Andy showing us his class, I said class, Matt put up a good fight in the early exchanges but the big man was just to worried about his average dropping to pay Matt any heed. Strong and consistent and a 2k+ to finish it and give us the tie. 1-3
Shaun Morris 5660 Sheriff Shepherd 1430 And so it came to pass that a special one stepped up to the plate and promptly showed us all how to play the St Francis top. Sheriff battled hard in the beginning only for Shaun to get the break back and pop in a match wining 2k+ and then promptly doing it again. Shaun played well, unlike his beloved Chelsea who also got the win as well.
A great night as per the usual banter etc......! And a special mention to Bob Ellis whom I forgot to buy a drink for, congrats on your first win of the season buddy. Great spread of sarnies, superb!!!!
Well done my team, and Chelsea, unlucky the other team, and Liverpool.
Smilies to follow, gotta go late for work!!!

Thanks BBW and IanG, and Tommo elsewhere, and have to say that I would expect the home teams to get the benefit, in time, of playing every other week on such a good (new) top.
I suppose I should have speeded up to make the 10k but decided to keep doing what worked so well, and gave me no scares along the way, and just hoped I had enough time........wrong ;)

Good break from Aunty Ros who dislikes playing Paul to clinch the deciding leg Uhh? Where did you get that one from Ian? As far as I can remember, the only time I've played Paul was in the Senior Singles last year. I don't dislike playing anyone really, although I often jokingly bemoan the fact that 9 times out of 10 I seem to get drawn against the opposing captain in Mid Sussex. Anyway, a big well done to my team: Lady Pamela for sticking to it when it seemed like there was a peg lurking behind every hole for both players. :o BBW for another wonderful score in spite of being still on the injury list -although he was spotted lying flat on the subs bench outside later! ;D Tony who also never stopped battling, in spite of also being injured, hardly able to walk and needing to sit down between all his turns. :( DA-DM for giving Mr King a very good run for his money. 8-) It was a great evening, the only sadness being that the Cornish pussycat couldn't get up from Shoreham to join us. :'(

Hello forum, this is "Spud" Spurrier from the Bravos team, freshly signed in. It seems our match with the Geyhound is the one absent report, so i thought i might rectify that. You will have to forgive me the fact that some of the scores are approximations as i cant rightly remember them all at the present time. I may have got some of the Greyhound team names wrong but im pretty sure they are right! BREWERS BRAVOS 3 GREYHOUND2 Paul Moyes-Robb-1500 Paul Goodwin 3000 Another frustrating evening for the big man as he couldnt get going as he would have liked. Mr Goodwin played well for his sides opening point. "Spud" Spurrier-3600 Geoff Fairs- 2220 After a slow start from both players i managed to compile a break of 2.7k only to watch Mr. Fairs immediately respond with a 1.6K to keep it tight. Nervous as anything, i almost blow it with a overhit shot right at the death. It just stays off the Black peg and i breathe again. Lynne Moyes-Robb-2500 Chris Watson-1700 Lynne breaks her duck with her best game so far. After Mr. Watson pegs his opening break, Lynne responds with a well-constructed 970. The rest of the match is a good tussle with houours about even. PTG-8500 Neil Burchell-500 With a mtch to win, Captain Marvel steps up to the plate and puts in a merciless performance. Breaks of 1k, 1k, 2k, and 4k secure the tie in impressive fashion. His unfortunate opponent does very little wtong in all honesty. Nikki Hinkins-500 Peter Burchell-3800 An entertaining last match as Mr. Burchell ignores barracking from his own stands to ride out to a comfortable victory agianst an unlucky Nikki.
Comiserations to the greyhound, who were excellent opponents and hung around for an entertaining friendly afterwards. If i got your names wrong, i do apologise. Will have to pick up the scorecard next time!
