Brighton Fixtures are now on the Brighton Website. captains will soon receive them in their folders. Here is the link to the fixtures www.brightonbarbilliards.co.uk/fixtures_2007_08.htmThe committee has decided on a major change to this year’s league format. A summary of the changes are as follows – - All 15 teams will play each other twice regardless of which division they are in. - The league will start last week in September and finish mid May - As usual Premier teams will continue to give all 5 breaks away to 1st Division teams and will also give all breaks to division 2 sides. - Division 1 sides will also give all 5 breaks away to Division 2 sides. - The best placed team in each division will be champions of that division, independent of their finishing position within the whole league. Therefore no Division 1 team can win the Premiership and no Division 2 side can win Division 1 - For ranking points all matches will be worth 2 points with the usual 0.5 bonus for winning against the break, and the usual score bonuses apply. There will still be a Lower Division Masters list, made up of just Division 2 players. This is obviously an experimental format, but the decision was made to give players a) more games and b) a bigger variety of opposition. It would be good to receive feedback (good or bad) from players at next years AGM. It is also important, in light of the increased volume of fixtures, that teams do not create a backlog of postponed games. I remind all captains that all matches must be played before the last match of the season and I should be informed by either captain of a postponement to any match.
