Open Doubles D.Taylor/D.Williamson v D.Ingram/T.Jenner at Bridge Games to be played by Sunday 1st February This match has been arranged to be played on Sunday 18th January. ;) Derek & Dilly won 2-1 at the Bridge tonight....... overall they played the table better than Tony & I did, although Derek had one moment of real luck in the decider that really changed the game and proved crucial in the end! ::) Good luck in the next round..... ;)

Well played to Dereck and Dilly, as Dave said definitely played the table far better than us, that said nothing wrong with table ( in fact disappointed not to have played better on what is obviously a high scoring top). Good luck in future rounds.

myself and the big farmer to play ric bithel and dave knight on thursday at the 8 ding dongs I will find out how the table is playing tomorrow night, hopefully it has settled down now....... ::) I will check the levels and give the table a good brush and clean the balls & pockets before our Mid-Sussex League match there, with any luck Ros will also give it an iron as it runs much better after that. ;)

Good to hear the table has settled well. I know it can be a high scoring top but it can also be a right bitch when not set up properly!

Tonite saw myself and the big farmer win 2-1 agianst ric bithel and dave knight. As there was a pool match on at the 8 bells and both sides not being able to play another night we gave the stonehead a quick call and played our match at the horns lodge. Game one: We won the toss and put the black horse side on first. a fairly low scoring game that saw ric and dave win with 3,500. Game two: Andys break and he went big with 7860 break which had the game won. Game three: Ric won the toss and dave went on first and only got 500. andy then went on and replyed with only 900. we all pottered about a bit then both me and andy had the break back once or twice and won fairly comfortably to make it 2-1. well done to ric and dave for a good night and well done to the horns lodge for they now have a fantasic top to play on there. i will put money on the highest break being on this top, a vast improvement.

I am a personal friend of Mike and Linda who took the Lodge over about 6 months ago and they have their heads in the right place - its nice to see they have given the BB table their usual caring attitude. Long may it continue!

I'm puzzled by that...... did Andy take the break in BOTH games 2 and 3.....? ??? ??? Surely, it should be the other partner who has to take the break in the final game...... otherwise it defeats the object of playing pairs if one partner can take all of the breaks? ::) ::)

Having looked at the Lewes Rules, there appears to be nothing stated there that specifically covers it....... ??? ::) Equally, there is no mention of this situation in either the Sussex County or AEBBA Rules that I can see. :o ??? ??? There also appears to be nothing in the Lewes Rules to state that in the Mixed Doubles that the ladies must take the break...... however I was told that was the case last year when we played in it..... ??? ??? ::) ::) Possibly Kevin, or someone from the Lewes Committee could clarify this before the next round of matches are played? ;D

Just to point out that Andy and Bravo were playing Ric Bithell who would have been the first person to point out if the rules had been broken!!

Just to point out that Andy and Bravo were playing Ric Bithell who would have been the first person to point out if the rules had been broken!! True, Ric would certainly know the rules. ;D However, it should be clarified for the benefit of those who are not playing their match against Ric....... certainly, it may have made a difference to the way that we approached the match had we known that was allowed when we played our doubles a few weeks ago. :P

Well it was a rule I've never come across until playing my Mid Sussex doubles a few weeks ago, and thats because I've only ever played Lewes doubles before, so I'd guess that it isn't part of the Lewes rules

Looking at rules on web-site nothing seems clear over breaks but open have always been same player may break twice and mixed is always ladies break. Will check at our committee meeting next week. Brighton only recently changed or had it written into rules (Nigel or Jean would confirm when) so alternate player could break in deciding frame, but before was played as in Lewes. Personally i like the mixed doubles rule as Bella would take break anyway , she tells me ;D
