Congratulations to the Romans A who beat the Three Horseshoes to win the 2007 Summer Cup on a tricky Stadium table. The scores were as follows 9scores received in brackets)
Brian Bartrum 10,740 (5,540) – 2,760 (3,350) Ian Lelliott Paul Pitfield 5,530 (2,500) – 5,930 (2,570) Kev Hall Dave Roberts 9,690 (8,000) – 0 (1,640) Kev Tunstall Dave Nicholls 9,870 (8,000) – 7,290 (1,020) Nigel Senior Dave Bartrum 2,340 (1,000) – 3,950 (140) Hayley Tunstall
Leg 1 – Ian pegged his opening 3k break, and never recovered, handing the Romans a 1-0 lead.
Leg 2 – Very scrappy game between Paul and Kev both having numerous goes at the break. Eventually it came down to both players needing the 100 hole to win, Kev sinking it with his 3rd attempt and thus levelling the scores 1-1.
Leg 3 – The break shot was becoming difficult now and despite getting the break back 4 times KT could not catch the 6,500 he gave away at the start and Dave Roberts put the Romans one leg away from victory. 2-1
Leg 4 – Dave had a 6,500 start on Nigel, and extended his lead to 8k after their opening breaks. Nigel eventually got the break back with around 6 minutes to go, and played the table out but was 2,500 short, much to the delight of Sleepy because his win had secured the cup for the Romans. 3-1
Leg 5 - Hayley restored some pride to the Horseshoes beating Dave Bartrum and scoring nearly 4k in the process making the final score 3-2.
My thanks go out to the participants in this years Summer League, I think I have been running it for about 7 years and it continues to be a success and all the past winners prove that all teams have a chance of winning. Once again well done to the Romans.
The serious business of the Winter League starts next week.

Once again Nige the summer format has proved successful and thanks for your work in running it.
Very well done to the Romans and looks well deserved. Unlucky to the Shoes, sometimes the gap is to wide especially if the table turns out to be on the tricky side.
