Investors are needed so as the AEBBA can purchase the tables plus van plus accessories from Brian and Tony.
I am starting a list with my name at the top. I would hope there are members or non members willing to add their name to the list.
Please don't go on the list if you feel doubtful about any investment.
Brian and Tony has agreed to invest also. So thats three people on the list.
We need to have a positive response to enable the continuation of top tournaments up and down the country.
So please help if you can. The more people on the list means less investment per person.
NAMES (Repayment of investment is expected in three years)
Dave Alder £400 Brian Daniels £500 Tony Webster £500 Tony Willis £200 Mark James £200 Chris Saville £200 Graham Sparksman £200 Keith Sheard £200 - £400 Keith MacDonald £200 Chris Newson / Toner £200 - £400 Dave Ingram £200 - £400 Phil Hawkins £200 Tony & Liz Jenner £400 Kevin & Hayley Tunstall £200 Ros Appleby £200 Simon Tinto £400 Sandra / Eddie Tebby £200 John / Penny Birch £200 Jenny Parsons £200 Oxford League £400 Pos Jean Brackenridge £200 Tony Britton £200 Received with Thanks Jim Thomson £250 Received with Thanks Eric Hill £200 WSBBL £200 Ian Lelliott £200 Dave Neilan £200 Bill Trinder £200 Queens Hotel £1000 Terry Alder £200 Jed Long £200 Received with Thanks

I should make it clear that 'Investors' mean shareholders in AEBBA. It is envisaged that sponsors will be paid back over three years, disasters allowing. Hopefully a small amount of interest should be payable but no fixed amount guaranteed. There is little risk as the table can always be sold on Ebay!
I am the principal shareholder in the Dover & Deal consortium and will be a sponsor assuming my investment in the local league is reduced prior to the time money is needed.
The asking price for AEBBA is £10k plus £1k in startup costs so all we need is 55 people to make it £200 each. Come on people, lets see some names here.

Add me to the list please Dave, although my wallet cannot expand too much if we don't get the 55 hoped for and I still have a job :-/ Graham

As it's a very important situation to keep Bar Billiards going regarding Opens, All England tournaments & local leagues finals nights, it is a must that we find as many people as possible to invest in these tables, or as Chris says "Shareholders".
So I would be glad to have my name on the list. :)
I know it's best that we wait and see how many we get, but if someone wanted to put more in, i.e, have more than one share, that would be o.k wouldn't it?
Regards
Keith Sheard

A good start with £2k pledged already.
Remember to talk to your leagues and teams on the fundraising. Not everyone is a member of this board, so make sure awareness of the potential end of national competitions and most finals nights gets around.
Communication is essential!!!

Dave, Certainly count us in and like Keith would probably want to buy in for at least two shares. We need the support to keep this game going at all levels, lets hope the positive responses keep coming as owning the tables nationally can only be good for the future.

Will be putting a motion for WSBBL to buy at least one share, next committee meeting is February.
Will also send a link out on the WS email list
Only concern is the different hands moving the tables, perhaps this will be eliminated with a checklist in the van?

It's all gone quiet on here, does that mean that's all the investors we are going to get ? :(
Come on everyone, I know money is tight at the moment but this is for the good of our game.
Also their doesn't seem to be much updating being done on the main list.
Talking of the main list, do you think we could have our proper names put down instead of Milko, Sparky, Barbleman, etc.
Whoops I must have got out of the wrong side of the bed...I better go and beat the cat up. ::) ;)
Keith.

Dont Panic you can always take up another hobby, and money is tight to a lot of other people. And would wives allow their Hubby's or vice versa to part with their money to a pub game? when there are more interesting things in life.

Pete, those are negative comments you are making considering you are Oxford & County Secretary, if everyone takes your attitude we have no chance of keeping Bar Billiards going. I realize that not everyone can afford to put money in, but don’t forget this is an investment and as stated it is hoped all investors will be paid back with possibly a small interest in three years. I have taken a lot out of Bar Billiards and had a lot of fun with some very memorable moments and also made a lot of friends, so this is the least I can do to try and help the situation we all find ourselves in. So maybe you could have a more positive approach and make some useful comments to the Committee that has been set up. Keith.

I know that 55 investors were needed... I know we are not there yet..
I believe there is a year to get there..
I would value an update as to where we are on the basis of 55 investors/ or less shold some say more than one share...
I personally could move to two shares...
Like Keith... I have had so much from the game, which has always been appreciated and valued... I would be willing to consider further investment... I just need an indication
Chris :)

Like Keith I am astonished that there has not been more response from players (especially from those who use these tables many times over the season). I assume that non-Internet users will have pledged a few shares but where do we stand? It's £200 for goodness sake, which you'll get back anyway, whatever happens.
Jenny Parsons (who is not on these lists) will pledge another share so please add her to the list Dave (and can we have an update please?)
cheers Tony

To draw from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, this thread is a bit like a Ford Prefect, got going with a lot of coaxing, but has now spluttered and died.
It now needs a jump start, and I suggest it's tackled from a different angle.
It should be put to each county, how much would each be willing to pledge? There's every likelihood that Surrey would come forward, but it would be unfair to expect them to take the lead, as we're only just getting over setting our own house in order for the future.
Once a few block shares are pledged, the outstanding figure will be reduced, and people will be more comfortable with their £200 shares (at the moment it's looking to be three times that !)
Also, so far we only have the bare bones of the scheme, and if some meat was added, it might help to drum up some more enthusiasm in potential investors.
