Black Horse 3 Eight Bells 2
It's never easy to get a win here..... and so it proved for the leaders. ::)
Jan Bithell 4,160 - 2,560 Dave Ingram Some very effective recovery shots from Jan were the feature of a very patient 2k+ break in the middle of the game on her way to her best score in Lewes this season. I was just unable to get to grips with the table. 1-0 :-/
Dave Todd 5,750 - 3,220 Henry Brooks Dave opened with a very good 4k and followed it up with another 1.5k. H got the balls back but broke down on 2.4k giving Dave the win and another personal best in Lewes this year. 2-0 :(
Ric Bithell 1,260 - 5,570 Tony Jenner The final scores don't really reflect fairly on this game. TJ lost his opening break when he was caught out by a (very big) left hand roll and totally missed the ball when trying to gently it into the right hand 50 hole. Tony was first to get the break back and knocked in 1.5k, Ric got the break back but left both balls short. TJ added another 2.4k which gave him a 3k lead with 5 minutes left to play. Ric was on target to reach that when he unfortunately pegged a 1.7k break and gave the break back to Tony, who was pleased to play the table out for another 1.6k. 2-1 ;)
Dave Knight 1,800 - 4,760 Bill Kerr Dave broke down early but first to get the break back, only to break down again. Bill took a long time to get settled on the table but he then knocked in breaks of 1.5k and 2.5k to seal the win and level the match. 2-2 ;D
Richard Todd 1,940 - 1,440 Colleen Park Neither player really settled in the decider, Colleen was in the lead for much of the game but Richard battled well at the top of the table to take a slight lead with a couple of minutes left. Richard was on the table when the bar dropped and he cleared enough balls to take the match. 3-2 :'(
A good battling performance by the home team which gave them a win that they deserved as they generally played the table better than we did...... ;)
