To put the record straight.
BPCC function room is currently closed until April. Bo said that he would accomodate us in the upstairs room. I rang him as I don't want to cart 8 tables up stairs. Bo told me that he couldn't guarantee that the downstairs room would be open in time for our booking with him. I told Bo that we had another offer, he asked me to accept that offer. The offer is from the Cock. I thought that this meant the downstairs eating area and existing BB tables, I then found out that they are wanting to use the upstairs room, the tables would need to be taken up about 3 flights of stairs, they believe that this can be done on the outside of the building. This is just similar to BPCC. There would still need to be a lot of manual handling involved, and at 44 with a dodgy knee and a back that I want to keep ok for other persuits 8-) I am not going to be able to offer my services. The feat appears hazardous in my eyes. The table owner, currently Brian Daniels, was reluctant when I spoke to him at Bournemouth to have his tables lifted on a FLT about 100 feet in the air, I believe that he has now agreed to allow this. I understand that there will be lots of help available when the tables turn up on the Saturday morning, Brian reckoned to be there at 8am. Anyway, there was a meeting last night and this was due to be discussed. There were other venues mentioned, but i don't sit on the committee so I don't know what the outcome is.

Yes the Cock has offered to help us out if needed, which is appreciated and may rescue our Jim Wilson event and finals night. Also other people, have already tried to investigate other venues. ie Ise Lodge, Barton and Burton but unfortunatly without success, we are at the moment looking at other venues as well which we hope to find out about by the weekend. Some people are trying to rescue the weekend even if some don't think it. With regard to Brian refusing to allow us the tables is not true, he was informed that we were lifting them up to a 5th floor ( Seems strange that the venue only has 2 floors ???) I spoke to him on the Sunday and explained that and he was pefectly fine and understanding about it. If the 2nd floor is 100ft then they must have a bloody high ceiling downstairs ??? I think someone is in dream land :-/ It is no higher than Burton park :-/
I think before people start moaning and being negative they should try more to assist the league which is struggling to stay alive and if we lose the Jim Wilson because we are arguing over venues it will be another nail in the Northants Bar Billiards coffin. :'(

Was there moaning at the meeting then?
Obviously by what you have said the committee haven't agreed to use the Cock then at the moment until other venues have been looked at?
I would go with the Cock at this late stage as it's only 4 weeks away.

Its not that it was agreed not to use it we are just looking at all the options first

All efforts to find a venue are much appreciated Si. I have rung a couple in Higham Ferrers. One is not free and the other can only let us have the hall on the Sunday. Which would mean finals day would have to be cancelled.

They all want money, we won't get ote for note, unless we're lucky :D There is one venue that's being looked at in Earls Barton I am reliably informed.
