Good news at last!
Heard that the Alexandria in Worthing have a new bar billiards table and also the Gardeners in Sompting are thinking of putting one in and getting rid of their pool table. The Gardeners especially have probably the most susscessful record of any team in Worthing over recent years winning the first division six times and runners up once in a eight year period. The Alex had two teams in the Worthing some years ago.

Excellent news indeed, lets hope that there is an influx of new blood to form teams there. Maybe an idea to get round and offer advice ( coaching evening if necessary).

Not wishing to upset the smokers amongst the BB fraternity but I hope the no smoking law could signal a new era in BB Pubs and clubs will need to entice more people through the doors and putting in new tables could be an excellent idea The problem will be having enough local new players interested enough to regularly compete in the depths of winter

I think that's a very good point, Pete. Getting a few more tables into pubs could well be the answer if we can convince the landlords that it would be worth doing.
Trouble is some landlords aren't that bright - how many of us have heard them moan about how little money goes into the table, and completely ignore the fact that we all put a fortune into the till every match night!

Our Elms team still frequent the pub during the summer months, filling the till and playing the table once a week Putting a table in is a risk but there must have been a good reason for the Alexander to do it .Hope it works out for them.It would be nice for another team to join the league and also lets hope the Gardeners put one in as well, the more the merrier, plus it is quite close to where I live(Signing on and transfer fee?)

Rumours were true, the new table went into the Gardeners yesterday. It was still a bit green last night but has the potential to be a very good home top
