If you think the Romans table has been tricky this season perhaps you`ll think again when i give last night`s results to you. Just to let you know, the pub table was used on Wednesday night for the Brighton finals, didn`t play that bad as far as i`m aware. Tarrats turned up the next day and moved it into the right hand room (where i believe it is staying) and levelled it up.....Ha Ha. Excuse my sarcasm, but if that was levelled, the people responsible need to go back to school and learn properly. I`ve played several games on this top in the last 14 months and although not a flyer, it has played quite well. Last night it was so uphill and rolling predominantly right, to say these 4 top players struggled is an exaggeration.
The first match saw Gary Ridley bt Mark James 2-0, highest game score under 3k, highest break 1200 i think.
Match 2 saw Chris Reeves bt Barry Holt 2-1. Again, no scores over 3k, highest break 1040.
I feel sorry for all 4 players to have to endure such a table. £1 per game!! wasn`t worth 1p.

Well Katie, your comments don't really surprise me. For years I've endured playing a watered-down version of the game on Mr Tarratt's tables (the politest way that I can put it), and it is refreshing to come to somewhere like Ye Old Coach House and play on a benign table. If you were to look at Kevin the Reaper's average as well as mine this season, it's well over 5k a game in Surrey but a lot less in Sussex. Well done to the guys who got through and to the losers for their gallant struggle. Many of us nurture the secret hope that having the world champ living in the county, things will somehow through his influence become better !
I don't envy the Swan in their first leg of the Watney Mann b.t.w.
