The minutes of the meeting held at Frenchies Club in Surrey by the Table Committee, were read out to the members present. A discussion over drivers/mates took place and Dave Tooke came forward with two drivers (taking total to 5). On the question of funds raised so far, Maxi McDonnell made an offer to the committee of the full £10.000. When asked if i would accept this offer, I said no. on the basis of the following:
1) Brian Daniels will only deal with the association until such time as we pull out of any deal offered (we have until September 2009)
2) Brian Daniels had already declined an offer from Maxi.
3) When Maxi made the offer to the association, He was asked if the money was for the AEBBA or an offer to Brian via the AEBBA. His reply was "The AEBBA". To which at least three people around Maxi shook their heads to indicate 'no' and one member said "that's not what he means". I already knew of Maxi's offer to Brian and with those facts in front of me I could only decline the offer.
After this there was indeed a lot of talking and commotion among the members, It was at this point that Kevin Tunstall stepped in to address the members. He suggested that the committee talk to Maxi the following day as too much drinking by the members was detrimental in achieving any sort of outcome. This was agreed and the meeting was adjourned until 5pm Saturday.
After the meeting some members expressed their concerns over Brian Daniels, suggesting that because of his position as 'The Seller' he should perhaps not attend the next meeting.
I later spoke to Brian about those concerns and he happily agreed not to attend the next meeting.
I also spoke to a committee meeting and asked them to talk to Maxi as I would be on the desk running the tournament and would not find time to do it myself.
An offer was made to the AEBBA
A service contract offer was made to the AEBBA
Saturday
The meeting was opened at 5pm
I was able to tell the members that an offer to cover any shortfall in funds would be met, When asked who made the offer I was unable to tell them as the sponsor wished to remain unnamed.
I was also very pleased to announce an offer from Brian Dawkins (Berks) to service /repair the van at cost price only/labor free. This was applauded by the members.
I was then asked if the committee had spoken to Maxi McDonnell about his offer to the AEBBA. For unknown reasons this was not done. The members were quite rightly not pleased with the committee and voiced their disapproval.
The discussion then turned once again to the issue of drivers/mates, this was again left unresolved until Peter Sainsbury addressed the members, He suggested that the committee write to all the counties/table hirer's to ask if they could supply their own drivers/mates, by doing so we would then have an idea as to the number of drivers/mates required by the association, this was agreed and the meeting was closed
