Dolphin 2-3 Duke of Wellie.
A new look team from the Wellie beat the old West Tarring club side 3-2 in a close match
Game 1 - Regg3y was put on first by captain Nigel against Gary Iles. John made a nice 2k start but Gary did well to level the scores in his first visit. Then...disaster for Regg3y as the black peg went and he never recovered, and the home side took the opening leg, 1-0
Game 2 - Bob Thomas made a steady start of around 1,500 before Chris retrevied the balls and made 3k, Chris got the balls back again and finished on 10k. 1-1
Game 3 - Pete Brown went for his left handed method, and despite a few squeaky bum moments he held on for a valuable win for the Wellie, 1-2
Game 4 - Dave Anscombe's break against Nigel Senior. Dave went in with around 1,800, but Nigel got the balls back and finding the table much to his liking didn't miss a 100 split on the way to a 9k break, 1-3.
Game 5 - Tupps hit his first split thin and knocked over the white peg. Colin Green got the balls back and also hit a thin first split but got away with it. 2 breaks from Colin netted 7k but a 2-3 loss.
Good match and good table, although I may have a few sleepness nights with images of Regg3y and black pegs this year :P ;D

Gardeners B 2 - 3 Stadium A
First home league match for the re-located Warren Club team, this visitor was most impressed with both venue & table.
Game 1 - Neil Higgins v Ian Lelliott. The captains started things off, Ian missed the 1-up on 1200, but got the break back straightaway, and made the game safe at his second attempt. 0-1
Game 2 - Nick Brown offered virtually no chance to Grant Tully, his opening break of 6500 finished with both balls extremely difficult, Grant only got the break back for the first time as the bar fell... 1-1
Game 3 - a scrappy affair between Tony Burgess and Martin Smith. Martin established an early 3k lead, thanks to 2 goes at the break. There was little further scoring as most of the action was at the top of the table. 1-2
Game 4 - Paul Barnett v Geoff Jukes. Barney was off early, and Geoff had the break back at first visit, but made only 1k. Barney returned to establish what proved to be a commanding advantage. 2-2
Game 5 - Gary Ridley v Mark James. Your correspondent was off at 650, but Gary had a double-kiss which curtailed his effort to get the break back. Mark got the break back immediately, and made no mistake this time. 2-3

Excellent start for the defending champs at home to the Swan `A`. As always, Kt first against the break, Dave France the opponent. Dave kicked off with about 2k, several attempts each later, kt retrieved the break and touched on at 9k. 1 - 0
Mal next against Ron Brewer, Mal opened with 9k, couple more goes each. 2 - 0
Chris Scott made a couple of visits to set a lead of about 4k to BB Reaper. Kev got the balls back with about 6 mins left and made a superb 5k+ to snatch the leg. (Best i`ve seen yet from him). 3 - 0
New signing Paul Reece had everyone else`s bad luck i think. He pegged his opener and when retrieving the balls, pegged that one as well. For some reason, the table got trickier on the night, making the break shot a bit tougher. Vern Blake had a couple more chances than Paul and ground out the win 3 - 1
Terry Denyer last v Stu. Terry kicked off with about 2k+, Stu got them back and pulled some score back, Terry also got them back and somehow caught the black peg when going up the table, thus giving Stu the break back for the point. 4 - 1
Always a great evening against the Grumpy Old Men (you were missed pete), and excellent food as usual.
One sour note >:( Whoever the woman was who rang the 3Horseshoes to say " our team wont be playing tonight", next time, could you either ring, text or e-mail me/Dave Jones or any other committee member so we know who "our team " is , then perhaps there wont be any confusion. Our Landlord didn`t start the food til I confirmed we did have a match, but poor Dave Jones was on the train to the Henty before i could get a message to him that it might be his match !!!!!

Just walked back in from holiday, but know the Windmill C beat the Swan B by what I believe was 4-1, Rick messaged me and it was 3-1 with Bill apparently creaming the table on the fifth leg. Rick was the only loser as long as Bill did win the fifth. Good wins for a returning Terry Molloy and Chris Elliott. Other winners would be Arthur and Bill.
Excellent result, hopefully someone fron the Swan will post the details, looks as though Steve Aylmore and myself are going to struggle to gain our places on return from hols.

I believe the Stadium `B` beat the Gardeners `A` 4 - 1 in the other Prem/Div 1 game.

I believe the Stadium `B` beat the Gardeners `A` 4 - 1 in the other Prem/Div 1 game. Quite right Kevin a good evening with lots of birthdays to celebrate. 2 from the Stadium and 1 from the Gardeners. The night was closer than the scoreline suggests. Alan B beat Charlie Cooper in the first but not by a great margin. Alan M levelled the match witha 14k effort. The other games were all close but first Gina then Micky and finally Edge all won through to give the Stadium a good opening victory.
