Duke of Wellington 3-2 Swan B
Super win for the Wellie against strong Swan team
Pete Brown 1,480 - 5,340* Phil Oakley Chris Reeves 21,060(break)* - 0 Brian Richards Nigel Senior 7,190 - 6,070* Barry Holt Chris Tupper 13,130*- 480 Roger Taylor John Perrin 700 - 9,860 Matt Squire
Game 1 - Phil Oakley was off pretty quickly but Pete couldn't make the most of his chances. Phil eventually finished the game off with a 5k score 0-1
Game 2 - not much to say here but a super 21,060 break (18 min) from Chris as he played it out from start to finish 1-1
Game 3 - The crunch game, Barry found trouble early on but kept it going before missing on 6k. Nigel got the balls back but messed a split up on 2k. Barry and Nigel both missed and the next break back would prove crucial. Barry left two balls over the 10 and 30 which nigel cleared and he got the necessary 5k in the last 5 mins 2-1
Game 4 - Tupps rolled back the years with a lovely 9k opener to beat Roger Taylor. The match was sealed and Tupps eventually put in 13k all told 3-1
Game 5 - Regg3y hoping to pick up where he left off last night had chances but crucially didn't spot the red when he got the break back causing him to hit it thin. Matt played well eventually scoring 200 shy of 10k. 3-2
A good start for the new Wellie team who travel to the Gardeners next week.

Stadium A 4 - 1 Stadium B
A much-changed Stadium table from previous seasons, which required some adaptation on the part of all the players....
Game 1 - Martin Smith v Alan Messer. Both players made just under 2k on their opening visit, then the balls were chased around the table for several minutes. Martin it was who got the break back first, his 3k addition was sufficient. 1-0
Game 2 - Geoff Jukes was fluent for 4500, then broke down. Gina Sherratt got the break back after a couple of visits, and was on the brink of victory when she in turn missed with the scores virtually equal and the bar due. The game was decided on the last ball, Gina sinking the 100 at her second attempt, Geoff having had a 200 shot for the game in the meantime. 1-1
Game 3 - Charlie Cooper pegged a 2k opener, Ian Lelliott showed no mercy, finishing with a 13k score. 2-1
Game 4 - Mark James v Micky Pope. Your reporter used every hole on the table in a scrambling opening break, but somehow stayed on for 8500, final score 13500. 3-1
Game 5 - Tony Lewis comfortably beat Edge Butler, scoring 5k and losing a further 3k. 4-1

Gardeners `A` 0 Three Horseshoes `A` 5
Excellent away win for the Shoes, superb venue and a pretty good table to boot.
Game 1 - battle of the A.E. champs, KT breaking off with just over 3k but then pegging and giving Jean the break back. Unfortunately able to capitalise she came off under 2k and yours truly retrieved the balls to kill the game.
Game 2 - Stu went in with a steady 3k against Lorraine who got the balls back but came off soon after. This was a typical Stu Mepham game, giving potential heart attacks to his teammates. He got the break back and made a useful 4k only to miss a ball behind the 30 pocket, fortunately the game was safe
Game 3 - Mal had a couple of breaks to put the game beyond Sheena.
Game 4 - New signing Paul Reece broke his duck with a confident display against Denise and would have top scored had he kept a 2k break in the middle of the game.
Game 5 - BB Reaper took the last under tremendous pressure (barracking that is) against Chris Richards.
Looking forward to the Stadium `A` next week ;)
I believe the Three Horseshoes `B` won 4-1 at home to West Tarring club with another win for Lady H, that`s 3 nights in a row, Littlehampton, W.Sussex & now Worthing :P :D Is there any stopping this fab woman :-*

Windmill 5 Gardeners B 0. Yes you can believe your eyes a tremendous win for the Windmill, although both teams had to call in the reserves due to other commitments. ( Golf in Portugal for Barnie and Tony ).
Game One ; Nick Browns break against Rick Cunningham with both players having plenty of chances and neither of them wanting to win. Went all the way to the wire with Rick sinking the 100 to win 3510 - 3330. 1 - 0.
Game Two ; Arthur Brewster against S. Day ( profuse apologies my memory gets worse and cannot remember your first name.) Arthur doing enough to run out the winner 4810 - 360. 2 - 0.
Game Three ; With TJ naming stand in Gareth Cornfield, Neil took the risk of putting Jackie Adams on with the break, but after both players giving plenty of chances, Gareth playede well to run out 2570 - 820 winner. 3 - 0.
Game Four ; Old adversaries TJ and Neil Higgins with unusually TJ taking a break game. Opened up with only 2k, not expected to be enough, but Neil broke down on 2k. TJ break back goes well until left both up on break with 4k lead. Neil got the balls back and as the bar went was 150 behind with balls at top of the table. Both had the chance to sew game up, but went to 100 hole, Neil first missed and despite not finding it when practising TJ got 100 to win 6980 - 6830. 4 - 0.
Game Five ; Again two old advesaries in Gary Ridley v Bill Kerr. Gary started of well, but forced a shot on about 1,500. Bill got the balls back, and despite playing in tremendous pain due to pulled tendons, touched up on over 7k, eventually running out winner 8570 - 2140. 5 - 0.
Great start to the season with two wins and a very different team each match. Entertaining evening played in a true sporting manner, finished of with excellent food, consisting of an assortment of Chinese and Indian food.
Thanks to the Gardeners B for a great evening.
