Duke of Wellie 5 - 0 Stadium B
Great win tonight for the Wellie to stay unbeaten before big clash with the 'Shoes next week
haven't got all the scores but this is what happened.
Game 1 - I went on against Alan Messer, who went off with 2k. I got the break back only to peg 700. i got it back again and made no mistake second time around to make 8k. 1-0
Game 2 - Tupper time again, numerous goes at the break. tupps made the final blow against Charlie Copper to make the score 2-0
Game 3 - Pete Brown beat gina with a great last ditch effort to overcome her 1,000 lead. He held his nerve with some cracking shots to make the match safe 3-0
Game 4 - At 3-0 John could relax and so could his captain. And relax he did scoring 7,500 against poor old Edge Butler 4- 0
Game 5 - Reevesey wanted 5-0 but Popey was going to try and stop him. Mick went 4k up before Chris got the balls back but missed on 5k. Mick then missed to hand Chris another chance and another rapid fire 5k got the Duke their 5th leg.

Gardeners A 1 - 4 Dolphin
A first win this year for the Dolphin team.
Game 1. Bob Thomas played Sheena Wood. Bob started confidently but missed the ball losing his score. Sheena was unlucky throughout the game with balls not running for her. Bob got the break and this time kept his score. 0 - 1
Game 2. Gary Iles v Lorraine Hall. Lorraine missed her opening break. Gary chased the balls around but could not get the break back. Lorraine retrieved it later in the game to even the match. 1 - 1
Game 3. Steve Hurley v Jean Brackenbridge. This game was the one that the whole match revolved around. If either player could take the initiative then their team would be in the driving seat. But it wasn't to be Jeans night as nothing seemed to go right for her. Steve had two good breaks to give the Dolphin team a sniff of their first victory of the season. 1 - 2
Game 4. Colin Green v Sandra Race. Colin put himself on against the break. Sandra, like the rest of her team mates didn't have much luck going their way. Colin got the break back and posted a 4K+ break which proved enough to win the game. 1 - 3
Game 5. Dave Anscombe v Chrissie Richards. Yours truly went off with opening break of 2K+. Again, like her team mates, Chrissie had no luck. I managed to get the break back twice more to register 6K+. 1 - 4
A much better performance tonight by the Dolphin team. I even managed to score and win. I wonder how how long that will last. ;D ;D
Wonderful evening with good banter with a great bunch of people. Great food, spaghetti and meatballs, and great hosts. :) :) :)

Windmill C 3 Horseshoes 2
Windmill stay unbeaten to keep the Duke company at the top, a greta match played in congenial company with a good deal of friendly banter.
Game One. Kt with the break against Rick. Kt off at 450 as ha misses the split!!!, Rick unable to retrieve the break but KT does game over 660 - 13960 0-1.
Game Two Terrys` break against Paul, Terry started on around 2k then a battle ensued with neither player getting hold of the table, with two mins to go Paul retrieves the break jut over 2k behind, played table out to find needed 210 with the last ball, goes for 200 anyway although couldn`t win. 4240 - BP 1-1.
Game Three. Tj against Mal. Mal played the table superbly opening up with just short of 7k leaving myself 8mins, unable to get break back Mal did and played table out. So my quest of being the lowest scorer continues. 280 - 10640 1-2
Game Four. Bill breaks against Kevin H and goes off with around 5k, Bill first to retrieve break so game well and truely over as Kev does not get to leave his chair except to shake Bills hand. 12040 - 30 2-2
Game Five. nicely set up for the decider with that wily old campainer Dave Hampton on the break against fireman Steve. Dave sets off like a house on fire only to peg the split at around 2k. Steve straight in breaks down at just over 2k. Steve first to get break back and cruising along, his captain scoring already celebrating the win, team mates giving gentle banter about good break when he gets one shoot of the back cushion and take the peg, so drama not over. Dave gets the break back just about level when he breaks down, Steve gets to table as bar drops and does the required thing getting rid of the red and potting enough balls to make sure. 2830 - 2130 3-2
A sporting evening finished off with chicken wings and chips. Thanks to the Horseshoes who contributed to a good evening of bar billiards and banter.

Tony, have you checked your garden? You may have used your cue to hold up your beans ;D ;D ;D. Then again, are you using a bean cane for a cue? ;D ;D ;D ;) Hope you get your form back again. I know what it is like to go through such a period as you are going through.

Unless you are bionic (as it is suggested are certain players ;D ) form runs in patches. It only takes one good game to recover a slight loss of confidence. Don't be surprised when you see Big TJ turn in a big'un within the next week or so. ;)

I hope Tony plays his first big game on a Wednesday and not a Thursday. I play in the same side on a Wednesday. But as you say Tommo, form goes in patches and once Tony turns in that big one he will be up and running

Thanks guys as you know Dave I get frustrates with my form and lack of consistency, but will bounce back as when all is said and done I have always said it is only a game.
On the other hand great start for Dave unbeaten so far in Brighton, and overall from my point of view happy if others are playing well meaning the team performance is still a winning formula.

Thanks for that comment Tony. I'm pleased with my start in Brighton. Wish I could replicate it in Worthing. :) I was only using a bit of "tongue in cheek" after your comment on the Brighton forum about "again still forgotten how to use a cue". As I said in an earlier post, form will come back. As long as you don't choose me to "come back" against. ;D ;D

Stadium A 4 - 1 Swan A
Despite regularly beating Stadium at their previous home, the team formerly known as Elms B have never won the corresponding fixture in Hove.
Game 1 - It looked like things might be different this time as Terry Denyer took the opening break v Ian Lelliott, kicking off with a 6720 effort. Little did anyone know at the time that this would represent more than two thirds of his team's total aggregate for the evening... Ian got the break back with a real chase on his hands, opinion was divided as to whether he had time to catch Terry, but it was rendered academic when he pegged 3k+. This was Ian's first defeat in a Worthing league match since the 2005/06 season, he had won 20 games in succession prior to this. 0-1
Game 2 - Home banker (I'm sure that's what the skipper said) Grant Tully kicked off with a flawless 10k & touch, not missing a single 100 split. Ron Brewer couldn't get the balls back, Grant returned to add a further 6k. 1-1
Game 3 - Much to everyone's surprise, Dave France was off at 450 v Geoff Jukes. Geoff made a 7700 break at first visit, but broke down tantalisingly short of the winning post. Dave got the break back with time, but it was not his night, and he was off cheaply once again. Geoff finished with 13k. 2-1
Game 4 - Mark James v Vern Blake. Your reporter was sent on with instructions to avoid any 5th game excitement. This was duly accomplished with a 10k & touch, not using as many holes on the table as during my previous home game. 3-1
Game 5 - Tony Lewis v John Hayward. Tony finished with exactly 13k score, compiled in 4 breaks. 4-1

Sounds like a good win for the Stadium A, and what a tremendous run by Ian 20 on the trot with the standard of players is a tremendous effort.

Swan `B` 3 - 2 Gardeners Arms.
Nick Brown shot off with 4,000 plus, Roger taylor came back with 3,000 plus but pegged the break and gave the break back to Nick to finish off the game. 0-1.
Brian Richards broke with 6,000 plus against Jackie Adams, she only had a couple of goes as Brian finished with 13,000. 1-1.
Neil Higgins broke with a few thousand, Barry Holt retrieved the break but missed a split shot, Neil got the break back and finished the game off. 2-1.
Matthew Squire broke with plenty against Sheila and finished with plenty, can`t remember the scores
Tony Burgess shot off with only 150 Doug got the break back right away and made a score of 7,000 plus, and finishing with 11,000. 3-2.
Good evening as usual shame the Gardeners could not field a stronger team.
