United Services Club 5 Black Horse 0
Tony Jenner 11,620 - 1,800* Jan Bithell Jan hit her first one up slightly thin and it rolled around the back of the 50 hole, TJ scored a solid 3.7k break. Jan got the break back straight away and was playing well until she left a one up short on 1.2k. Tony got the balls straight back and knocked in a lovely break of 7,840 to win the game. 1-0 ;D
Bill Kerr 5,430* - 3,610 Dave Knight Bill opened with a very solid 4k, the balls stayed at the back for a while then Dave knocked in a good 3.5k before getting an unlucky double kiss at the back of the table and coming off. A few good shots got the break back for Bill and he played the table out to seal the win. 2-0 ;D
Gina Sherratt 3,460 - 2,800* Rick Bithell Both players had early chances, with Rick then first to get the break back again, getting up to 2k before having a ball fly back down the table, hit a white peg and giving Gina the break back. Gina knocked in 1.8k but left the a one up hanging over the edge of the 50 hole, Rick got the break back but ran out of time to catch Gina, despite a terrific attempt at the 200 hole off the side cushion. 3-0 ;)
Henry Brooks 4,650* - 3,030 Dave Todd Neither Henry or Dave really got going in this match, they both had the break back at least once but couldn't keep it going when the balls went to the back of the table.... Dave got very close to catching Henry near the end, but H got the break back and did enough to make sure. 4-0 ;)
Dave Ingram 11,770 - 1,970* Richard Todd Richard opened with just under 2k, leaving a ball just on the edge of the 100 hole. I managed to get the break back and touched up on 8k, running in the rest on my next visit. 5-0 ;D
Many thanks to the Black Horse team for a very enjoyable evening, we had the run of the luck when we needed it and could easily have lost a couple of the games, but a very good win for us on the night. ;D
We did manage to surprise Birthday girl Colleen with a cake, which she tried hard to set fire to herself with while blowing out the candles..... she and Gina then won a friendly doubles against Roger & Richard to complete a great evening. 8-)

Morning. Had an argument with the computer last night so decided to post a bit late instead.
Paul:1770 M.Palmer1740 This one was neck-and-neck until the last ball when Mr.Palmer sunk the last two balls to leave himself 30 adrift. Spud:2620 P.Winson 1140 After i screwed up the one-up shot it was back board all the way, both of us struggling with the whippy pockets. Sarah:1820 S.Smith1260 Another really close frame that was decided by a last charge break from Sarah as the bar was about to drop. Pete:1530 J.Guilford:510 Pete maintained his 100% record with a solid game against an unlucky Miss Guilford. Nige:1380 B.Procter1270 The skip brought up the rear in another amazingly close match, this one decided by one fantastic shot from Nige late on in the game to give himself a good lead that he clung onto.
Whilst the scores were not huge, the frames were all really close and enjoyable to watch. Thanks to the Horns Lodge for a good evening and an enjoyable doubles later on. I didnt get their first names which is why i sound a bit formal above.
Cheers all

After only two games looks as though Lewes going to be competitive as last season, and always nice to see a different team in the mix. Hope they take confidence from their start and that they apply pressure for the rest of season, just love it when leagues go down to the wire.

I KNOW IT'S ONLY AFTER TWO GAMES AND WE MIGHT END UP ANYWEAR IN THE TABLE BUT, GIVE US A CHANCE TO CROW ABOUT IT AS I THINK TWO OUT OF THE LAST SEVEN YEARS WE WERE BOTTOM AND THE OTHER FIVE YEARS 2nd FROM BOTTOM I KNOW WE MIGHT NOT STAY THERE BUT IT WON'T BE FOR THE LACK OF TRYING..............................NIGE
