Hope it's bad news tonight for the Diamonds because Oxford Utd are coming to town. ;D We owe you one Peetee after last month, but should be a good game, both teams on form! Yes it was a good game and a fair result, but we really wanted a win. Roll on Sat home to Gatehead a must win and then we are away to Stevenage. 8-)

Always good thing financially when teams like Oxford come to town with their support and who knows we may meet again in the play-offs!

We also owe your boys one, after you took three points from our place earlier in the season! ;)

I hope we don't get in the play offs as that'll be a bye for the other team :(

Club news is that very few season ticket stubs have been returned, so it should be a bumper crowd of 4,000+. Good business for both clubs, hope the sun shines and may the best team on the day win. ;)

Wombles 0, Rushden & Diamonds 1. Just got back. R&D's follicly-challenged No.9 hit a good goal. Crowd was 3600. Stood near the away fans, plenty of banter going back and forth: "R U M.K in disguise?" etc. We seem to have a spate of home games, 5 for me to see in three weeks, so don't begrudge BigStew and the Diamonds the points today. ;) 8-)

That result has done our play-off challenge a world of good, now bring on the plops on Tuesday! :D

Even though it's always great to beat your rivals, i did feel a little bit sorry for the Kettering fans having to witness their teams performance tonight. Having to pay £16 to watch that must have been frustrating! I'm not gunna gloat about our victory as the most important thing for us was to pick up 3 more points, whoever we played. Bring on the Luton! ;)

i did feel a little bit sorry for the Kettering fans having to witness their teams performance tonight. I was feeling the same about the Wrexham fans last night, despite Wombles trying our level best to hand them the three points. (Went in 0-1 down at half-time, having hit the post, missed a penalty and handed them an own goal; equalised late in the game, only to go 1-2 down near the end of normal time; then got their player sent off and equalised with a penalty in the 95th minute !) Their team were poor - Salisbury played better and we beat them 4-0 ! The Wrexham fans were jovial though, singing "1-nil to the sheep-sh*gg*ers ! (and later "2-1 ....... etc"). But I couldn't help feeling sorry for the 500 of them facing a five-hour overnight journey back to the wilds of North Wales. :o

I think the furthest i've ever been for a midweek is Shrewsbury!

I hope we don't get in the play offs as that'll be a bye for the other team :( Things are not quite that arbitrary these days dude: That's if you are referring to the ground grading and promotion issue? The playoff place which Klattering may or may not achieve - then have taken away - can be offered to the club in 6th or 7th this season. Thanks to the various farcical situations with failed gradings, temporary structures being used to pull wool over eyes so that clubs CAN gain promotion, and other shenanigans, there was a rule change last summer. So if AFCW and Poppies both end up in the playoff places, but don't have grounds to League 2 standards; then the two clubs just outside of the playoffs get a crack. Providing THEIR grounds are up to it, of course.... ::)

Glad to see it!
I think, despite all the work we have done over the past couple of years, SHOULD it ever get to the point where H&W are faced with League 2 footy, we'd need certainly to upgrade the lights, add turnstiles, boglets and possibly upgrade the dugouts.
Expensive business this getting promoted innit! 8-) ;)

1-1 :( >:( the ref at fault again Have a look at this. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/8654976.stm I thought our man fouled on the lead up to our goal and this confirm's it. So you are right about the ref at fault Peetee, but he made some strange desissions all night, like only seeming to book Diamonds players!

Oxford were worthy winners on the day. Not too bothered about staying down, just means we can whip Ketterings arse again, as usual!

York ruined our season when they forced us (through tribunal) to play the game on 5th April which had been postponed owing to their waterlogged pitch. We picked up two injuries, were thrashed 5-0 and had to put our reserves out the next day for the Surrey Senior Cup Final - which of course we lost.
So for that reason alone.....................
Good luck to Oxford United at Wembley !
