Stewart have you lot packed your bags and moved out of our new ground yet ;) Seriously though AGM today any thoughts on what the outcome will be, looks pretty dire to me.

Hard to say mate, nobodys been told anything so can't say. Looked promising in the week as Glenn Hoddle was rumoured to be setting up his academy there, but thats fell through. Could be the end for plops to if they move to Nene park, as the running costs are through the roof and can't see many travelling over for home games!

They have just been expelled from the conference, a few minutes ago. Makes sense, no players and debts throught the roof. Not sure if thats a good thing for plops as the fixtures brought in higher gates than usual

Was joking about the ground Stew sure that was put to rest a few weeks ago , but with Ladack you can never be sure. Will Justin Edinburough be good for us ? ;)

So talk of their 'demise' would appear to be premature. What has happened is basically as good as the end. I can't begin to tell you just what i've listened to in the last 19 years, the one thing that keeps ringing in my ears is the smug..'we will never play you again' quote, when they were promoted to the football league. Wrong, we did play them again, and now, we may never again ;D The chequebook, which bought their success, has also brought them their demise.

Rather have Ladack than the Beasants and Cousins wouldnt you ? ;) ;) Cousins was a good chairman, how put in alot of his own money. He's understandably stopped doing that, as the club was running at a loss. Beasants were just jokers, who did'nt have the first clue. Only rather have Ladack's money, not himself. Only got his best interest's at heart. Moving a club to a rivals ground is first step turning the fans against you!

He's taken back control of the club and owns the land. Hope you know he's gunna charge Plops an arm and a leg and how many fans are gunna travel over for home games? It's a good move business wise, but in terms of Town's following not so!

He can't be charging more than Pickering wants or we wouldn't be moving, besides tonight he said at the meeting he's going to spend 100k getting Nene Park up to the standard were used to. ;)

Isn't it nice (albeit a touch predatory) for those Cobblers to offer R&D season book holders a straight swap at no extra cost!

The Poppies then, 25 year lease on the soon to be renamed Nene Park, with an option to buy. Most fans at last nights meeting in favour of the move. The Landlord at RR wanted 100k rent.
As for R&D, well a Phoenix club may appear in a year or so, they do to be fair have an appeal to the conference on June 21, and thay may get a reprieve, so who knows what will happen.

No point in making an appeal it's not gunna be excepted. Looks like the end of Diamonds as any potential investors only wanted to take on a club from the Blue square. Love um or hate um, the county is losing a football club which is never a good thing. So with Kett moving in, only time will tell wether it will be a sucsess. Not sure how many fans will make the journey over each week and can't see too many converters. I for one won't be a convertor, but can only wish Town all the best and would'nt want to see another local team go the same way.

Difficult to console dyed-in-the-wool football supporters, I'm one myself with Wimbledon running through me like a stick of rock.
But some good could come of this situation and it could be so much worse. My lot shared a ground with Crystal Palace, more than 10 miles away, for Ten Years before the dirty was done on us. To begin with, the players loved the idea of playing in a large stadium. Didn't make any difference to me, of course, still 20 a mile journey but to a slightly different point of the compass.
Horsham (SilverFox's team) had their ground sold from under them three years ago and have been playing home games at Worthing, 20 miles away.
Brighton have been through the mill, losing the Goldstone Ground when a property developer got on the board and sold it from under them and the home supporters faced a trip to Gillingham, 50 miles away, for one whole season. Happily for them, they're about to move into a brand new home - albeit on the other side of town.
Kettering fans are moaning about moving to a custom-made venue which has fallen nicely into their laps, just 5 miles away, in open countryside ? Think yourselves lucky you're not moving north to Corby. You have the added satisfaction of sole occupancy.
Tough on Rushden fans, but you only have recent history, and Northampton Town is a good club with a fine tradition and seems a better option than starting again as they could do with the extra support.

Northampton Town is a good club with a fine tradition 800 happy Cobblers are making their way back to the wilds of Northampton tonight after a 3-0 victory over the Wombles. We knew it wasn't going to be our night when our goalie made a fantastic one-handed save, only to have the ball knocked out of his hand by their charging No.9 who then went to ground theatrically - and the referee pointed to the spot. 0-1. Never in 30 years have I heard a ref receive so much abuse, and he spent the rest of the half trying to make it up to us, even reducing them to 10 men just before half time ! But as is often the way, the 10-man team played like absolute heroes in the second half, defending like demons against our perpetual bombardment, whilst adding two more on the break. They say every cloud has a silver lining, though, and the news that the hated Crawley had lost by the same margin sugared the pill somewhat. 8-)

Doesn't make good reading, BigStew. Pity the two clubs had such enmity towards each other - a case where pooling assets might have proved beneficial, rather than starting the new club lower down. Poppies have had a surprisingly poor start in their new home. :o
