Neville Potts (7,420) opened impressively for the home side with a win, but Alan Smith (7,990) immediately hit back for the visitors before Wack Sampson (5,860) snatched the last singles leg from Gary Clarke thanks to an unfinished late break of 1,800 to put the home side ahead 2-1.
