It may be food for another thread, but does anybody else show there annoyance at a comment from an opposing player by thrashing the living daylights out of them, on the table of course?
Result DEMOCRATS 4 CORNER HOUSE 2
We had not got a look-in in the first four legs, the positioning of the ball in the D for the split had proved vital and I pity anybody who gets "drawn" there for an off-the-spot match.
Micky was playing well at the start of the 5th leg but left a ball in a tricky position behind the right hand 30. It had looked as if the ball would not drop from the last shot, and Dave Bartlett started to get up. His teammate said loudly "not yet, but get ready".
Micky played a good shot and carried on to get a winning break.
How nice it was then for me to make an 11,000 opening break in the last leg to keep his loudmouth opponent sitting down for another 12 minutes. It would have been quicker but the last 1500 was on the 50 pocket only just to rub it in.
I believe that needless comment changed the game, and I wish he has said it earlier!
Good fun, this game! ;D

Not the best of places to go is it Pete ! We were away at the ROyal Oak B and lost 5-1. Ben managed to crawl his way out of bed as we couldn't get a reserve to play or a new one signed on, he promptly lost both to Jane who played well under difficult circumstances. There were about 10 kids between 15 & 18 who were just rude with no manners and every other word was a swear word ! Keith lost both of his to Paul, but had many chances to win, especially his second game when neither could pot! I won my first game with the break against Micky, after not being able to get the break, on the third attempt, started playing the reverse break and made a few thousand break. The second game, Micky missed early and when i failed to pot, he went in with a 4k break in just over 8 mins !!!! The only thing i wasn't too pleased about is when he was 9k up with scores banked and about a minute left, potting at the top end of the table he insisted on waiting for the red every shot >:(

I think you missed the point on that one Pete. If I understand correctly, the guy already had enough points banked to win the game three times over and had no need to pratt around waiting for the red to come back. I'm sure you yourself in a similar position would be doing the opposite and speeding up to try and wind in as many as possible.
I'm an advocate of using the red whenever it's needed and am forever reminding the missus that it counts double, and choosing a shot which involves the red each time when you are behind can get you back into the game. But what's the point when you've already won ?
You shouldn't malign Milhouse - he's been a staunch ally for you if you go back over the BBQ63 thread.

He's not a wind-up merchant just a bit eccentric and there's nowt wrong with that in this sterile world we live in..... ;) Tony

Calm down dear, it's only ad(game)vert.
I am really not maligning Mark at all. I just don't want him getting steamed up with slow play(ers). It is something you have to accept in bar billiards. My point was also that it did not matter a jot BECAUSE the game was over, so why let it annoy you anyway.
I don't want him getting steamed up with opponents chattering away between shots either, as we have to play Dave and Sue Barnes only 8 days from now.
Getting ear-plugs would be good!!!!

When ahead in a game most players will always wait for the red ball to return, it makes sense to most.

Not always, quite often I shun a red, playing a white instead to set up an in-off with the red into the hundred hole.
