Not played yet....I thought you retired Champ ;D :) I find this totally unaceptable as they have had 2 months to play this match, what's the point of putting a closing date on each round if teams are going to abuse the rules. >:( I suppose the four singles matches that still need to be played are going to do the same. :-/ Going over the closing date gives less time for us to arrange it against the winners, which is unfair on us. I think the time has come to start getting tough with these people, I know a certain person that would not have allowed this to happen!! Now I know why I've retired. :-/ Keith.

Chuck us out - I really don't care but please don't wonder why there are only two or three entries next year.... And calm down - there's plenty of time.... 8-) cheers Tony PS and I can think of no Oxfordshire secretary past or present who would have thrown teams out

Tony
I’m sorry for losing my cool over this.
Yes I know there are no rules for this qualifying tournament but when closing dates are worked out and included on the competition sheets that are sent out I think it only fair that teams and individuals should show a degree of courtesy in making sure they play these matches by the date mentioned.
I am not County Secretary so have no power to throw anybody out and I’m sure Pete would not do such a thing anyway, the person I was referring to used to run the Inter Area and you knew where you stood with him, as if teams hadn’t played their matches by the closing date and notified him of the result they were thrown out. It still didn’t make a difference to the entries as some association’s still had three or four teams in it, so it shows that even though he took a tough stand it was still a success.
P.S On a lighter note Tony, I haven’t phoned the landlord of the Lamb & Flag up yet but Gary and myself have arranged to play our County Singles this Saturday and were wondering if it would be a suitable day to play on the table.
Regards,
Keith.

Regards, Keith. Hi Keith I hate it when everyone agrees with each other. Better out than in, I say. ;D I actually disagree with you about who you were talking about (!) - I feel that more harm than good is caused by a dictatorial approach, as the Inter_Area did lose a lot of teams overall during that period, although that obviously was not just down to him and his attitude. And that all sounds worse than I meant it to but what the hell....? Something is wrong with the IA and I'm not sure that we can do anything about it - I think we went somewhat backwards at the last AGM.. On the Lamb & Flag front, give them a ring Keith (01993 702849). It is a small pub and there may be something on - it's generally OK though earlier in the evening. Table should be playing alright but there's a brush on the left of the table - it's as well to give it a light brushing before playing to stop the break coming inside. I'd come down and score but I have something on on Saturday already. cheers Tony

Vikings v Lamb and Flag 15.7.09
The Flag won 3-2 on an 'interesting' Bletchington table but the game was competitive and played in exactly the right spirit.

Bad luck to the Vs and we look forward to playing the Nelson in the next round.

Semi Final The Nelson v Lamb & Flag @ Horse & Harrow To be played on Saturday 29th August
I would like to thank Tony (Barbelman) & his team for agreeing to play on a day that suits me, because of my sleep patterns there are only 3 days of the week that I can make, so thank you Lamb & Flag.
I'm sure it will be a great match played in a very friendly manner.
Keith :)

If the table is installed and set up Cowley Workers will be a good venue.
I will order trophies for you 5 winners and 5 runners up, and a new annual cup(I dont think their is one), unless anyone know's different

Cowley Workers table hopefully being in place by 19th Sept, could even be this weekend if all goes to plan so no problem having this as the venue as far as we can see. There is live entertainment on at the club on this evening (for anyone who fancies a boogie as well) but the table is going to be placed in the games room out of the way

Just a thought but if the issue is playing the table to near a league match why not do one of the following
switch the fixture so kennington play at home on the 15th instead of away if poss
or
Bring the final forward a week providing the table is in?

It was just an idea - I hope the Cowley team don't moan about losing home advantage later if the result doesn't go their way ?

The league match on 15th is 12 days AFTER the final so why the need to swap fixtures ??? Calm down Sean, Keith is only putting up a couple of ideas for us to consider. Regarding his post, this match was arranged for the 3rd Oct between the two Captains and we couldn't play any earlier as some of us were away. His first suggestion could work as neither team has a B side, but as you mentioned in your post Sean, Quote; "So no problem having this as the venue as far as we can see" then it must be o.k with your team, so the Cowley Workers Club it is on the 3rd Oct. :)

Five trophies for the winners and runners up plus a new annual challenge cup have been ordered, and I will bring them along on the night. Any extra trophies required will have to be ordered after the final. ( Unless you want six each).
I will gladly present the trophies if you wish.
Pete
