Pete, can you explain how the squad system will work on the day? How are you going to choose who plays what games ?

Pete, can you explain how the squad system will work on the day? How are you going to choose who plays what games ? Pete is away for a few days, but as you asked the same question last year I'm sure he would say that their is no system, it's just up to the Captain to decide on who he thinks will be his best team on the day.

Can I take it that I'm being punished this year for pulling myself out of the team last year due to the "Captain" fiasco, or do the selectors think that I'm not good enough to be in the team!! I said at the time that I never wanted to be Captain ever again, but I did not say that I never wanted to be considered to play for my County again.
Keith. (angry & disgusted yet again)

Can i also ask what the criteria is for selecting these teams ? It certainly can't be on current form Mark, otherwise a couple of these would not get in the team, as they hardly ever play these days!! I will leave it to one of the Selection Committee to explain, but I doubt if they can. :-X

This is a little disturbing and perhaps someone who could make the meeting could explain the criteria that were used for selection and tell us who was at the meeting.... How someone of the quality of Mark Trafford can be left out while I (for instance) and others are included is beyond me. Why was nothing done to ameliorate the situation with Keith or is he to be left in the wilderness for ever? (He's still quite good you know ;) ) Why am I captain of the B team when I specifically said to PE I didn't want to be? (and won't be BTW)
cheers Tony

Must say I was surprised Mark wasn't in the squad given some of the names that are - a billiardgate scandal me thinks !
I am sure its more cock up than conspiracy that Mark and Keith are missing.
Don't put yourself down Tony I would say you should be there
Surely such a high profile meeting had minutes taken that would reveal all........ ??????? A case for Mulder and Scully

Over the past years a County Meeting only takes place once a year with two officers from each Association being present These meetings was only to pick the County Teams.. This year I was told by a certain member that some top players were asking when the teams will be picked. I decided to go ahead with a meeting on Thurs 27th August giving enough time for the teams to be assembled for the Championships in Oct. I phoned Wallingford, Eynsham and they were available but unfortunately Tony Willis ( Witney)was unable to attend which i apologise to him for being at short notice. Tony put forward Terry Cook, John Bamsey and Himself.
Present at the meeting were Pete Ewins & Bob Pincombe( Oxford) Pete Soanses & Bob Allsworth ( Eynsham) Dave Tooke & Stuart Florey Wallingford) Stuart is not a Officer or a Committee member for Wallingford which i did mention but other members said it will be ok for him to sit in at the meeting. The teams were then picked. Yes Milko should have been in the team. It's not to late to re-shuffle I will look into this situation asap.
Let's propose 11 a side so every top player can play and keep everyone happy. ;D

How is that gonna work when you can only play 7 in a match - ah brain wave change the format to 11 frames per match and ask the other counties to bring more players and make the comp over 2 days !
??? ??? ??? ???
Alternativelt tell people they will play in half the matches - yeah thats gonna go down well. Better hope they don't all want trophies to ;D ;D ;D ;D

Pete stop dancing round your handbag like its a closely guarded secret - or is it ?
Answer the question - your not a politician although your doing a great job g at giving answers that don't answer the question.
Is that what your school report said - he gives great answers but does not answer the question set ?

Never known a player so interested in the County teams as you, and as for your latest thread which I'm not happy about I will send you a personnell message when I'm ready. If you still cant' wait please contact one of the following members who was at the meeting. Pete Just for your information Keith Sheard is now in the A Squad and your mate Mark Trafford is now in the B Squad.

Pete, it's not a case of a lot of questions from Beefy, its just that his original question has not been answered, which is also a questions myself, Milko and Barbleman have also asked.
What was the criteria for selecting the teams ?
Are you able to answer this question ?
Also, i now notice with myself and keith included in the teams, the quad of players is now 9 each. When you phone everyone to confirm their availability, are you going to mention there will be 9 players in the squad and there is the possibility of only playing 1 or 2 games ?
ps - there are also only 7 trophies awarded to the winners and runners-up, so 2 players will not even get a trophy if they win.

After many years of attending County meetings I thought I would follow the trend set by Kevin Tunstall as follows. Each Secretary from the four associations...Oxford, Eynsham, Witney, and Wallingford submit players who are up to standard to play at County level. For Example..Witney Tony Willis, Terry Cook, and John Bamsey. The names are put forward along with players who played for the County team last season. The selection committee then decide who will play and each player is voted on.

Thats all we wanted to know - why didn't you simply put that up the first time it would have saved the spanish inquisition this thread turned into. Sorry if I hit a raw nerve with my politician and school comments, they were meant as a joke and not as anything else !

I have informed Witney, Wallingforrd, Eynsham and the Chairman of Oxford that as from immediate effect I resign as County Secretary. I have asked officers from other associations to arrange a meeting to elect a new Secretary asap.

As we no longer have a County Secretary (not yet anyway) and as no one seems to be asking about players availability I have taken it upon myself to try to find out who can play. I have had no contact from Dennis Atkins (A side Captain) yet, so perhaps he hasn't been told that I have now been selected for the A team!! We also have no B side Captain now as Tony Willis does not want to be Captain, so perhaps that will have to be sorted on the day, unless Tony would like to ask one of his team to take it over as the Captain has to be there by 11.30!!
Here is a list of those that are willing to play so far. A Side Team (only 7 players left if Dennis can make it) Kevin Godfrey (Captain) :) Keith Sheard :) Steven Sheard :) Phil Collins :) Jon Bamsey :) Leon Beer :) Maxi McDonnell :)
B Side Team. Mark Trafford (Captain) :) Tony Willis :) Terry Cook :) Alan Oliver :) Simon Ellam :) Mike Jones :) Stuart Florey? or Pete Lee?

I expect i'll get hung for doing this but as the A team is a player short I have taken Maxi out of the B team and put him into the A team.
I have also made Kevin G Captain of the A and Mark T Captain of the B.
I will also ask Stuart Florey to play for the B, if he says no I will then ask Pete Lee.
I can sense the rope being tied on the high branch already!! ;D ;)
Here are the Teams.
A Side Kevin Godfrey (Captain) Keith Sheard Steven Sheard Phil Collins Jon Bamsey Leon Beer Maxi McDonnell
B Side Mark Trafford (Captain) Tony Willis Terry Cook Alan Oliver Simon Ellam Mike Jones Stuart Florey
