If any team is interested in playing in the Witney Summer League would they please get in touch ASAP. Games are played on Tuesday evenings and teams are 3-a-side with each player having two games - essentially Eynsham rules. There will also be a Summer Individual competition. Phone or PM me and I'll send you an entry form.
cheers Tony (Witney Comp Sec)

Witney Summer League started last night with nine teams and I was very disappointed that we could not get the new team from the Red Lion at Aston but I am fairly confident that they will join for the Winter and round the numbers up. Teams for the summer are; Plough, Finstock Lamb & Flag, Hailey Kennington Social Club Vikings Sports Club Bletchington FC Club A Bletchington FC Club B Masons at North Leigh Royal Oak at Burford and last but not least - last years champions Red Lion at Cassington (ringer free) Please feel free to leave results on here (with scores if no card) and all results, fixtures and news will be on www.wanddbba.co.uk with an occasional newsletter sent to all pubs and clubs through the summer. Tony

First night of the Summer League and the usual dismal start from the Lamb & Flag with a 5-1 defeat at the Plough, Finstock. No excuses - we were pathetic :( but we are always slow starters.....
Top scorer was Bill Keenan with around 13K in the last...
cheers Tony

Nice one Mark - good win against the Vs too.
Lamb & Flag won 4-2 at Royal Oak with Terry Cook taking the home teams points and Steve Walker and I taking the Flag's. Table was tricky to say the least but improved a little as the night wore on...
Plough drew 3-3 at home to Red Lion with Bill Keenan scoring over 12K in the third against Jonny Bamsey.
All in all should close the league up no end....
cheers Tony

Result from Tuesday...
Kennington SC 4-2 Bletchingdon A
M Trafford 21,840 - 0 P Soanes K Hollis 3860 - 5460 G Powell I Gordon 8310-1900 S Mulcock Mark 10,270 - 4420 Pete Keith 6300 - 6530 Geoff Ian 4610 - 2050 Steve
Breaks - Mark 21,840 PTO & 10,020 , Keith 5,480 , Geoff 6,380
Run-out by me in the first game ;D Keith missing the 200 with last ball to snatch his 2nd game after going off with a good 5k+ and a good comback from Geoff to get 6k+ doing just enough!

Result from Tuesday
Royal Oak 3 - 3 Red Lion
We all shared. I would have taked 2 off Terry Cook if I hadn't knocked the plack peg down after the gate had dropped when 14000+ up. :( Best game - Terry went off with 6000 and I came back with 9000 Both Colin and Martin won their second games well.

Last nights result
Plough Finstock 2 - 4 Kennington
Dave stepped in for Ian who decided it was a good idea to watch Oxford in the Rain !
Bill 2 - 0 Dave ( this was probably the best draw for us especially with bill on first to show us the table)
Kevin 0 - 2 Keith the first game was a one sided affair but the second was a steal I am 2K down kev's on a 2K+ break only to whipthe 100 knock the peg down and give me the break. I finished with almost 3K to snatch a second victory. 100% for the week after winning in the Wallingford league Monday as well and I bet its a long time before I repeat this feat again
Jenny 0 - 2 Mark probably not the best draw for us
Highly entertaining activities in the pub as the witch docotrs in the hats and gear where dancing outside ! Apparently they were morris dancers but the last time I saw any they wore white outfits with bells. This lot had on vodoo style hats with feathers , truncheons and swords - most odd !

Other results from this week are the Bletch A / Royal Oak 3-3 draw at Bletchington with Terry Cook top scoring with 8230 and 7120. The Lamb & Flag won 5-1 at home to Masons with only Deb Barton taking a good point against me :( The Bletch B team took two points off leaders Red Lion on the Cassington table with excellent wins from Scott Gillam with 9470 and Roy Wain with a 4270-3750 victory against Jon Bamsey, a rare loss for him at home....especially against Roy! ;D All tables and results are on the website along with averages up to last week and other news. See www.wanddbba.co.uk/cheers Tony

A couple of singles games played last night at the Kennington SC Mark Trafford 1-2 Jon Bamsey 14,290 - 1,620 1,170 - 16,320 12,510 - 6,820
Ian Gordon 2-0 Terry Cook 4,360 - 3,140 7,430 - 5,130
Breaks - Jon 11,340 & 12,510 Mark 11,140 , 5,020 , 6,820 Ian 5,260
Jon missed early to give me a chance but i couldn't get them back, he did and got his break and tapped up, i went in with enough and then so did Jon in the decider. Terry missed early and it was a back and forth game where they both had the break 3 times and missed on various shots with Ian just nicking it. In the 2nd game Ian went off with his break of 5k then spent a lot of time at the bottom end, then got another 2k to seal the win.

A couple of singles games played last night at the Kennington SC Mark Trafford 1-2 Jon Bamsey Ian Gordon 2-0 Terry Cook Really excellent win for Ian G against Terry, Mark and I'm surprised you let JB beat you on your own table ;) He was very worried about that game....but it looked a good one with only one chance missed. Another bleedin' disaster!! We - the Lamb & Flag - lost at home to the Vikings by 5-1! I took the only game for us against Micky Jones and all the others were close but 5-1 is 5-1...bu**er. Goods wins from Bob Allsworth (2) Ian Moss (2) and Mike Jones (1)
Bletch A drew 3-3 with their B side apparently too. Roy Wain, having beaten Jon Bamsey last week, went on to beat Geoff Powell this week - there's life in the old dog yet!
cheers Tony

We had a very surprising result over at the Masons last night, on the way we were expecting another loss having lost there 5-1 nearly every time we go!!! Masons 0-6 Kennington SC A Barton 1770-2100 K Hollis C Partridge 600-1900 I Gordon R Ayres 730-1870 Mark Andy 2250-2360 Keith Chris 1530-2330 Ian Raymond 1480-3500 Mark
The lowest scoring game i have seen for a long time! Although i did lose a 4k+ break in the 1st game

We drew at Bletchington with another dismal performance.... Now - I must just phone Mr Bamsey and wind him up a little.... ;D ;D cheers Tony

A very surprising (yet welcome!) result! Here are a few more details......
Keith 8810-1110 Colin Ian 6170-1980 Martin Mark 11,160 - 520 Jon Keith 5700-3320 Colin Ian 5840-1180 Martin Mark 9700-7440 Jon
Jon going along very well in his break game (break 7440) on last but just whipped one and left it a bit awkward and played a good shot to keep his score. I then got them back to win (break 9430) (although i did ride my luck!)
Hope i can be on the right side of a similar team scoreline Friday night ;) ;D

And the score on Friday will be VERY different (5-0 probably ;D) cheers Tony
