Dun Horse away to Three Bees
Colin on first against Ron. Scrappy game with both players getting bogged down at the top of the table. Ron scraped up a thousand lead over numerous visits which took the frame. Keith on second. Another scrappy game, Dave followed Ron’s lead and built up a thousand advantage to bag the second. Scott started well in the third before pegging his opening break off a whippy 100 hole. Steve, in pain with a stiff neck, potted a few to build up a 3k lead. Scott came back in the last 5 minutes with a 2k break but ran out of time to catch Steve. Dave quickly built up a 3k lead in the fourth against Linda. The table then got the better of both players who scored 800 each in about 12 minutes. Grant got off to a blinder in the last game, quickly building up a 2.5k lead against a floundering Nigel. Unfortunately for us, Nigel had other ideas and somehow managed to get the break back and chalked up enough to bag a fourth frame for the home team.
Three Bees 4 Dun Horse 1
Ron Child 3620 Colin Bolton 2130 Dave Tomsett 2730 Keith Etheridge 1570 Steve Eely 3890 Scott Hope 2780 Linda Lennon 800 Dave Simmons 3800 Nigel Tomsett 3730 Grant Hope 2800
The Dun Horse have lost yet another match 4-1 and are probably the fastest movers in the league table……downwards!
Not an excuse, honestly, but the Windmill (3B’s) table was absolutely awful. God knows how it made it past Bonfire Night!
To be fair, it was carp (anag.) for both teams, just seemed to favour the home side. A good night with plenty of natter and some good food.

The Blue Ship V Alfold SC
First up Trevor versus Mick with both players struggling, eventually Trevor sneaked in front , with the table full of balls. Following a period of nip 'n' tuck Mick got the break back to knock up 1k to take the lead as the bar dropped giving Trevor no chance to recoup the points, (but hey I havn't knocked the peg down for 2 weeks in a row!! :D)
Mick Johnson 2430 Trevor Goacher 1290
Next up it was Clifford ('Minor') against Steve, with 'Minor' starting confidently, but a slip up left 2 balls around the 50 pockets. Steve racked up a good 1k before pegging out, however 'Minor' could not capitalise, though steve not having the best game of his life, knocked down the peg on two more occaisions giving the victory to Alfold.
Steve Holden 720 Cliff Greening 1720
3rd up saw Garry for Alfold starting slowly edging in front with Colin fighting back to draw level (even with a peg down). However, Garry hit a good break of 2.5k to put the game out of reach.
Colin Cahie 1430 Garry Fishburn 4080
The 4th game saw an excellant affair between Malcolm ('Major') and Alan. 'Major' started off well with a good break of 1.9k, wth Alan coming back well only to knock down the peg. 'Major' increased his lead before Alan hit back with a good break to put some pressure on. Both players then scored modestly before Alan hit a good score, just as the bar went to seal victory for the Blue ship.
Alan Maybee 4410 Malcolm Greening 3610
So it was into the final game with both teams looking to win it to claim the victory. The draw saw Robin versus Ding and a very nervous Robin just could not settle whilst Ding could not win the break back. Ding eventually edged in front, before Robin hit a very useful 900. With the bar dropping it was all to play for with the eventual winner Robin downing the ball in the 100 hole to secure a very very narrow victory.
Ding Johnson 1870 Robin Burgess 1880 ::)
Final Score Blue Ship 2 - Alfold SC 3
A very good evening and though both teams struggled it was a most enjoyable. Thanks to the Blue Ship players for a smashing night and to the staff for looking after us so well. Great Rolls mmmm
