The last game of the 2009 Inter Area competition will be at the Lamb & Flag Hailey (nr Witney) on Friday 4th December when Witney A play host to last year's Champions, Wallingford B.
Wallingford B are 5-0 and about 38K up from the first leg so Witney have it all to do. We are quietly confident..... ;D ;D
We hope to see lots of people there, perhaps even the Inter Area Secretary?
cheers Tony

As I've said before, it's no good having rules if teams are going to abuse them, in the Inter Area, teams have always known that if they haven't got the result in by the closing date they would have been thrown out, so does this mean that all teams can have an extension next year? Rule 11 Closing date rules must be strictly adhered to in order to avoid disqualification. Each round is allocated TWO FULL MONTHS to complete. First round matches to be completed by the end of March, Second round by end of May, Quarter Finals by the end of July, Semi Finals by the end of September and the Final BY THE END OF NOVEMBER.

Dunno, Keith - you'll have to ask the two Captains....
As we've been running the competition ourselves this year with no info or input from anyone then perhaps it's OK to make up our own rules. ;D
Personally I think Wallingford B should be thrown out of the contest for transgressing the rules in such a heinous fashion! ::)

Well, the inevitable happened and Wallingford B won the 2009 Inter-Area Trophy in a fairly one sided game against Witney A. They won 3-2 at the Lamb & Flag to take the title for the second year running and with a match score of 8-2, it was thoroughly deserved. Butch Lawson took the highest away break with a near run-out of the Flag table, amassing nearly 13K.
Well done Wallingford B and I hope the post match curry went down well!
It was good to see Tony Ewen presenting the trophies and we thank him for making the long journey across Oxfordshire to attend.
cheers Tony

Thanks Peter - it's quite good to get to the Final but disappointing to lose in such a poor way. We do quite well in this competition but I'm not sure if we are getting better or everyone else is getting worse..probably the latter!! cheers Tony
