On the subject of fish, a Blenny is not a flat fish but has a conventional fish shape, apart from the ones that have been trodden on by Ian Graves. These are flat fish.

A good trawl of fish puns from the Warrior and others. We went through the whole repertoire at Hurstpierpoint Club last week when we revealed our plan to give the Laughing Fish a battering. You must have been talking to Papa Hall, Warrior !

Tommo, a ’skipper’ on this forum in the post ‘Chub’ era is a ‘Gulper’ of beer, never ‘Koi’, always the life and ‘Sole’ of the party. ‘Eel’ continue to be quite a ‘Dab’ hand at being a ‘Weever’ of these quizzes and the ‘Plaice’ would certainly ‘Flounder’ without him. Stop ‘Pouting’ , don't ‘Carp’ and post ‘Barbs’ if he docks you points! Just get on with trawling through the net to spawn answers. I think he’s ‘Brill’ 'Angel' and a ‘Ray’ of sunshine for giving us a ‘Whale’ of a time. Just remember the names will not change back unless quoted and will mean little otherise. Sav

OK I'll get off my 'Perch' and join in the fishy silliness.
Found a nicely named fish to match my receding hairstyle, thought I'd better grab it before BBWarrior spotted it as being applicable ;D ;D

Okay, one for H : You can tune a guitar, but you can't tuna fish. Unless of course, you play bass.
I think as a penance, Fringe-Lipped Flathead should be forced to keep that name until such time as the Limes table has been re-clothed. And Captain Haddock too for that matter ! ;D ;D

The 'Dover Sole' will see you there tomorrow. Sav

And no more Fringes, even if Sav had a hole he couldn't find for lack of one ;) (In-joke) ;D

Mystery solved (if ever there was one)............ What possessed tommo to become Captain Haddock for a day? Quite simply, he was inspired by reading of a new Steven Spielberg film trilogy which is currently work in progress, due for release in 2009, based on Herge's Adventures of Tintin. The first of the trilogy will take in the two volumes Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's TreasureThis will be the new big thing, on the scale of Lord of the Rings, mark my words - you heard it here first ! Tintin has some great characters, which include Snowy the Dog, the Tom(p)son Twins (who aren't related), Red Rackham, Professor Calculus - and of course the worthy Captain: www3.sympatico.ca/brooksdr/haddock/main.htmPerhaps tommo's persona is more like Calculus, but he is a great admirer of the Captain's propensity for flying off the handle, and his resourcefulness when coming to inventing new swearwords. ;D You may often hear tommo refer to the Reaper as a 'whippersnapper' - that is a Haddock-ism. ;D
