Dun Horse home to Railway
Captain Colin capitalised on a shaky start from Mick in a close first game and made it safe after the bar had dropped. Scott looked to follow Colin’s lead in the second after Nigel only chalked up 500 off the break. Scott got his nose in front by a thousand before Nigel finally settled to take the frame for the Railway. Mark started steadily in the third but going for an awkward ball behind the 30 off the cushion, brought the cue ball back over the line to lose 1.5k. Dave stepped in to take a steady 3.5k although a miscue nearly took the peg out. Mark struggled from then on as Dave made the frame safe. Sniffer also struggled to start but Stuart, a bit off form after two weeks in the sun, failed to take advantage. Sniffer finally managed to get going leaving Stu too many to catch. Grant on last at 2-2. Mike broke with 1k then everything just slowed down. Every time Grant got to the table he was faced with awkward balls. Although he played some superb clearing shots, the shot to get the break back somehow eluded him. In a game that was closer than the scores suggest, Mike took the frame and the match for the Railway.
Still at least it’s an improvement for the Dun on the 4-1 losses we have been incurring of late!
Dun Horse 2 Railway 3 Colin Bolton 3560 Mick Clack 3140 Scott Hope 2500 Nigel Worsfold 4820 Dave Simmons 7480 Mark Davies 870 Stuart Hope 2330 Steve Merriott 5190 Grant Hope 1550 Mike Cork 3150
A good night, one fixture we look forward to in the season. (Especially Stuart who cadges a lift with the Railway!) Some good chat and banter. Oh….and bloody egg sandwiches again! >:(

Alfold SC versus Three Bees
Linda started well for the Bees with a solid 2.5k break. Minor made slow progress before pegging out on the black :-X. From there it was a slow game that saw Linda triumph. 0-1 to Three Bees
Second game saw the experienced Ron from the Bees up against the almost novice Trevor. Ron took some time to get going and Trevor was in an indifferent form. Ron's experience eventually kicked in and he took the game with a steady score. Oh and Trevor pegged out 5 Times!!!!! ::) (that will teach me for boasting last week I had not hit a peg for 2 weeks :-[) 0-2 to Three Bees
Up third saw Steve versus Garry with both players starting slowly. Steve eventually knocked in a break of 1.5k to take a lead before Garry hit back with a 4k break to edge in front. However, Steve won the break back and rattled in 1.5k as the bar dropped to edge Garry out of the game. 0-3 to Three Bees
Dave was up next for the Three Bees and he started brightly with a 2.5k break. Robin struggled to get points on the table and with Steve stepping in with a 4.5k break had too much to do with little table time. 0-4 to Three Bees
(you getting the picture yet ::))
Last game saw John for the Three Bees agaist Alfold Skipper, the MAJOR. John Struggled to find the break allowing Major to get 2K points on the board. John came back with a good score before Major added another 2k to his score. However, John fought back valiantly only to be beaten by the bar. 1-4 to Three Bees
Alfold SC Three Bees Cliff Greening 1360 Linda Lennon 4030 Trevor Goacher 600 Ron Child 3950 Garry Fishburn 4500 Steve Eely 5750 Robin Burgess 890 Dave Tomsett 7530 Malcolm Greening 4800 John Tudhope 3160
A nice evening and the Three Bees brought a lovely crowd with them. Food by Cliff, thank you.
